News and Notes
What an exciting week for FCYST! The Long Course Season has officially started and we are so excited to be back in the pool! Thank you to all who participated in Open Swims, Private Coaching and the Clinics the past several weeks. It was wonderful to see the excitement and commitment from our swimmers during their time “off”. We do have quite a few new families joining our team, so if our veteran families see a new face, please reach out and introduce yourself. We will continue with our weekly News and Notes email, please read through them each week as this is how we share all the wonderful things going on with our team and any changes. If you have any questions, please reach out! We are happy to help. It’s going to be an amazing season!
-Team Hosted Summer Meets: Our swim team hosts 2 swim meets during our Long Course Season. Both meets are held at the Erb Park Pool. A reminder that all families are responsible to fulfil their Service Hours Requirements per our team policy that everyone signed during registration. These swim meets are a huge source of revenue for our team and everyone’s help is needed to run these successful swim meets. The two meets we host are the Summer Classic, June 15-16, and the Bird Bath Invitational, July 5-7. Please mark those dates on your calendars. These meets are always a lot of fun and a great way to meet new families and build new relationships not only within our team, but also the swimming community. A list of all our summer swim meets can be found our team website.
-Swim Meet Deadlines: Please pay close attention when looking at the swim meet schedule to the deadlines that FCYST is requiring families to commit to attend. Take a look on our Events and Meet section of the website and start to commit to the swim meets now so you are not left out. Hotel block information is also posted to the away meets. Please make your reservations now so you do not miss out on the discounted room rate. If you have questions about what meets your swimmer should participate in, please ask their coach.
- Schroeder Distance/Sprint, May 18-19: Deadline extended to Wednesday, April 24th.
- Mayfly at Appleton North, May 10-11: Deadline to commit is Monday, April 29th.
- Pirate Plunge at Schroeder, May 31 – June 2: Deadline to commit is Monday, May 6th.
-Big Blue Special Olympic Event: Thank you to everyone who signed up to help with this year’s Big Blue Special Olympic/Unified Partners Swim Meet. We are excited to be a part of this event again and continue to look for ways to expand our involvement with supporting Special Olympics in our communities. We have included the timeline for this year’s event. If you would like to know more about what to expect at this event please see the events tab on our team website. An additional email will be sent out to participating families.

-FCYST Apparel and Swim Equipment: FCYST has 2 online apparel and equipment websites to purchase a variety of items, Elsmore Swim Shop and Silly Toast Designs. Both website and their links are located on the left side of our home page on our website. We are again asking all swimmers to have a proper fitting pair of flippers with them at all practices. We will be adding new apparel to the Silly Toast website within the next few weeks.
***Elsmore has provided FCYST a coupon for non-FCYST specific items that is good through May 5th. The coupon and the coupon code can be found on the right side of our team home page.
-Contact Information: Please reach out to the swim team office with any questions, comments, complaints or compliments throughout the season. We are here to listen, offer advice and guidance, brainstorm and to answer your questions the best we can. Our office hours vary from day to day, but we will do our best to get back to you as soon as we can. Please refrain from using practice time to discuss things with the coaches (unless there is an emergency), as we are coaching the swimmers and that is our number 1 priority at that time. Before or after practice is generally a good time to catch one of us briefly or to set up a better time to meet. Thank you for understanding.
