Cumby Wins SportNL Junior Athlete of the Year

Congratulations to St. John's Legends's 18-year old swimmer Noah Cumby recognized as the 2019 Joseph P. Mullins Memorial Award recipient given to the top junior athlete as identified by SportNL at the 2019 Stars & Legends Awards Night Saturday in St. John's.  Cumby has been a nominee for this award before but this was his season to breakthrough and claim the honours.

Cumby had a splendid season in 2017-2018 capped off by earning a bronze medal at the 2018 Junior Pan Pacific Championships in Suva, Fiji as part of the Canadian 4x100 medley relay team.  Cumby was named to the Canadian Junior Pan Pacific team based on a 6th place finish in the 100FR at the 2018 Canadian Swimming Championships in Montreal in April 2018.

Cumby has continued his student-athlete career at Texas Christian University in Ft. Worth and continues to represent the St. John's Legends at domestic Canadian competitions, most recently at the 2019 Canadian Swimming Trials where he was a Finalist in the 100FR, 200FR, and 50FL and became SJL's first 2020 Olympic Trials qualifier!

Congratulations to Noah and his family for this wonderful achievement!
