Clough Gives Verbal Commitment

Maggie Clough, from Springboro, Ohio has made the decision to stay in state and become a member of the recruiting class of 2020 for The University of Akron Zips.

"I chose Akron because of the amazing team and the fantastic coaching staff. I fell in love with the campus, and I felt truly at home when around the girls". Maggie will be joining fellow Torpedo, Kenzie Rice, who is currently finishing her freshman year at Akron. 

Over the last 2 years Maggie has continued to develop her backstroke events while adding many new events to her line-up, making her a very versatile swimmer. This winter Maggie became the fastest 200 IM'r in SWOYSL history (2:02.25).  She finished runner-up at YMCA Nationals in the 200 Backstroke (1:56.46) in April. She also finished top 16 in the 100 back (:55.01), 200 IM (2:02.25) and 200 Fly (2:02.58). Maggie was also a top 5 finisher in both her events at the 2019 OHSAA High School State meet (100 back and 100 fly).
During Maggie's career she has swam to 30 All-Time Top 10 swims in Torpedoes history!!! Congratulations Maggie on a huge accomplishment!
