Spartans Finish 9th at Western Canadian Champs

 

April 11th– 14ththe Spartan Swim Club sent 12 swimmers to compete at the Western Canadian Championships in Edmonton. This meet was composed of 500 of Western Canada’s top athletes from BC too Manitoba all racing for a top ten preliminary swim to make a final.  In overall team scores Spartans finished 9thout of 70 team!

 

Myles Wheeler took home two medals in the men’s 17 and over category claiming silver in the 200m Breast, bronze in the 100m Breast followed by fifth in both the 400IM and 800m Free; he was also sixth in the 200m IM eighth in the 50m Breast and tenth in the 400IM  

 

Tobyn Smith competed in the girls 15 and under category and swam herself to ninth in the 800m Free and tenth in the 100m Back

 

In the 16 and under boys division Logan Sparks placed fifth in the 800m Free, sixth in the 1500m Free and he was tenth in the 400m IM. James De Jager pushed himself to fifth in both the 200m and 400m Free and he was tenth in the 800m Free. Caden Hyde placed sixth in the 100m Back, eighth in the 200m IM, ninth in the 100m Free and tenth in the 50m Free.

 

Haley Klenk won gold in the women’s 16 and over 100m Back followed by an eighth in the 50m Back. Anna Dumont Belanger just missed the podium with a fourth place finish in the 800m Free, she was also seventh in the 1500m Free eighth in the 200m IM ninth in the 200m Free and tenth in the 400m Free. Sheigh Gaudette had a strong meet placing fourth in the 50m Breast fifth in the 100m Breast and eighth in the 200m Breast
