NYAC Partners
Letter from the New General Manager

May 4, 2019

Dear NYAC swimmers and parents,

My name is Leela D’Cruz and I was recently hired as the General Manager for NYAC. I will be leading the “Dry Side” with Head Coach Murray Drudge leading the “Wet Side”.  Our goal is similar: ensuring all swimmers get the most out of swimming with NYAC.

I would like to introduce myself.  We have been with NYAC for about 5 years since my family relocated back to Toronto.  Swimming has always been a big part of my life.   The busier work and life got, the more my morning swims with the NYAC Masters, left me feeling like I was ready to take on the world.  It also helps that I have great lane-mates that make me smile!  For my daughter who swims on the competitive side, she has made amazing friends and learned what hard work and dedication means and enjoyed the benefits of swimming with a great club.

On the “work side”, I have an MBA from Queen’s, and have worked in the healthcare industry for over 20 years mainly in sales, marketing and communications in both global and Canadian roles.  I have also volunteered with several not-for-profits including the West Island Women’s Centre, Beaconsfield Bluefins, West Island YMCA and Mettle Multisport.  These experiences will complement NYAC and support the club as we move forward together.

I will be getting out to the pools to meet you and hear how everything is going.  In the meantime, I invite you to stop by the NYAC office at TPASC, or send a note about what’s working, what could work better and how you would like to get involved!  As a volunteer-based club, it is your commitment, creativity, skills and dedication that make this club successful.   You can reach me at

With warmest wishes,
