Quote for the week:

“I have learned that success is to be measured not so much by the position one has reached in life as by the obstacles which he has overcome while trying to succeed.”

~Booker T. Washington

Hello TorpedoesNation,

Coaching Changes

This week will welcome Nathan Sommer onto the pool deck.  Many of you will recognize Nathan, as he is a senior athlete, and has been a part of our program for many years.  He will graduate from Terre Haute North later this month, and will continue his swimming career at Bates College (Lewiston, ME).

Summer Splash

Entries are now up for the Summer Splash.  Please go online to sign up your athletes as soon as possible.  Job signups to work the meet will go live 2-3 weeks before, so watch your email for those signups.  ALL Families will be expected to help work this swim meet.   If you are interested in working extra shifts, please contact Volunteer Coordinator Ken Coleman (

Open Water State Meet

We will be competing in the state open water meet.  For those athletes interested, we are setting up practices to prepare.  If you know of a good place to hold a practice, please contact coach Dave.  For swimmers interested, please see your coach.

Summer League Meet

We have been approached, once again, by the Greene County Stingrays to join them for a one night meet.  Because of competition, we usually limit this meet to athletes in Orange, Blue and Bronze (and their siblings).

This meet will be relatively short, outdoors, and a great chance to race for some of our younger athletes.  Please watch for more details.  Kids always have fun at this meet.

Practices During Away Meets

A concern was brought to our attention about not having practices on Friday nights when the team was at an away meet.  We are going to try to work out a way that we will be able to have practices on Friday nights during away meets.  The format of those practices may be unconventional, but will offer our athletes an opportunity to practice.  The first such practice will be Friday May 10th.  There will be not be any practices offered on Saturday May 11th.

Treasurer Tuesdays

This coming Tuesday the team treasurer will be in the wet classroom with THT Swim and Dive Car Decals for sale.  $8 for one decal, $15 for two decals.  In the future, we will also have other THT gear for sale as well, such as THT vintage t-shirts for $5, or group colored caps for $12.

Upcoming Events:

10-12 May – Pike Spring Invite

27 May – Memorial Day, No Practices.
