Age Group- 4:45-5:30pm, today, Mtg Rm 2.
Academy- 4-4:45pm, tomorrow, Mtg Rm 4.

 

New Coach Announcement!

Our Academy program is growing. We are targeted to break 30 next season. KISU is committed to excellence and realized that this would challenge our limit. We are very pleased to announce that we have hired Jeff Symonds as our Assistant Coach to our Academy.

 

KAJ Long Course Invitational:

It was a great meet this past weekend in Kelowna for KISU swimmers. Well done Swimmers! Coach highlights below:

Ian Markus made his qualifying time for Mel Zajac in 50 Fly.
Lauryn Peters went best times and made A final in 50 fly and 50 back. 
Elizabeth Hanna squeaked into the A final in 50 brst and moved up to 6th. 
Ben Say went 33 low in 50 brst. 
Thomas Caruso was 2nd in the 200 free, 400 IM and first in 800free. 
Norman Anderson moved up in two of his finals, taking second in the 200free and third in 100 brst. 
Marlee Caruso finished off the day with a strong 800 free, showing the power of positive thought as she swam faster and faster with the cheering from Ben and Norman. 
Caitlyn Kowal went best time in the 800 free.

Ben Davidson went sub 30 in 50 free, Lauryn Peters made Provincials in 200 fly, Sarah Andrews made Age Group time in 400 free. Thomas Caruso gold in 200 IM 200 fly, Jaren Lefranc and Evan Peters 1st and 2nd in 200 IM, Alice Wang 3rd in 50 free, Liam Wallich 2nd in 200 IM, Marlee Caruso... a solid 1st place finish in 100 back. The boys 16 and over Medley relay was first 1:52.83, Evan, Jaren, Ben Say and Ian.

 

Practice Schedule Changes:

There will be regular practice this Saturday May 18th but NO practice on Monday May 20th.

There will be no practice Saturday May 25th in Penticton, as it will be held at the Oliver outdoor pool.

There will be no practice Saturday June 1st due to the Wenatchee Meet.

 

KISU Trophies:  

The following trophies have not been handed in yet.  If you swimmer received one of the awards below, please have them return it to the office ASAP!  This is to allow time for them to be engraved for this season’s recipients.

May Board Meeting:  May 15th at 5:30

This month’s board meeting will be held at the Penticton Community Centre, upstairs in meeting room 3.  All members are invited to attend.

 

KISU PR Representative:

Do you have knowledge or an interest to make connections with our local media?  If so, we need you for KISU PR. Position includes sending results from local swim meets, provincial and national meets KISU swimmers attend as well as other news worthy events including awards won by the team and individual members. We will provide you with the basic information and photos, you just need to package it and connect with the local media. If you’re interested in helping out, please email Lisa at president@kisu.ca and say “I will help with KISU PR”. Thank you in advance!

Upcoming Meets and Events:

 

Oliver Outdoor Practice: May 25th 9:30 – 11:00

This is our Annual Outdoor Practice in Oliver, Saturday, May 25, time 9:30-11:00am.  

All KISU swimmers are welcome, but those that are attending the Wenatchee swim meet should especially be there as there are a few tricks to swimming outdoors that we never experience in Penticton.

No sign up is required, just show up.  There is a rumour that there may be a stop at a particular ice cream place on the way home as long as all the swimmers swim their hearts out in practice.

Please note that there will NOT be regular practice in Penticton this particular Saturday.  Everyone should go to Oliver!

 

Regional Championships: June 15th- 16th Registration Deadline May 25th

Vernon will be hosting the first Regional Championship for the end of the season.  

ALL KISU swimmers should be attending a championship meet to end their season - Regionals, Age Groups or Provincials.

 

Swim BC Age Groups:  June 21st-23rd Registration Deadline June 1st

Chilliwack is hosting the second Age Group meet of the season.  Swimmers need to have the Swim BC Age Group time in 200 IM and one other event.

All KISU swimmers with Age Group times should be attending.  

 

Swim BC Provincials: July 4th-7th Registration Deadline June 1st

This will be the second Provincial meet of the season.  Long course in Victoria.

ALL KISU swimmers with Provincial times should be attending.  KISU's goal is to place Top 5, but we will need everyone there to do it.

The open water event will be on Monday Jul 8thand has a separate sign up. Registration Deadline June 8th.

 

KISU Awards Night and Picnic: June 5th 6:00-8:30

Location: Pavilion at Skaha Park

Cost: $5 each to a max of $20 per Family

KISU will be providing pizza and drinks.  We are asking all families to bring either a salad or a dessert.

Please sign up your entire family under one swimmer by indicating your total number of people in your family in the comments section.

Please bring your own plates, cutlery and lawn chairs.
