Swim a Thon 2019 Result
What a great Swim a Thon 2019! There was certainly a feeling of unity and team spirit when the whole team came together on April 27 and finished our distance goal to swim to the CN Tower – 1790 km! This is an important team fundraiser and together we raised $14,050. Thank you to all swimmers, parents, coaches, volunteers, friends and family who contributed. It is really appreciated.
Congratulations to our top ten fundraisers:
Top Group Fundraiser - Congratulations to Atlantic White. The group raised over $3,600! To celebrate their success, they will be enjoying a pizza party tonight.
Grand Prize Winner - This year, for every $125 a swimmer raised, their name was entered into our grand prize draw. Congratulations to Oliver Bourne from the Provincial group who won a $500 gift card of his choice. And thanks to him for raising $395 for the Club.
Individual prizes – Individual prizes will be distributed in the next few weeks. Swimmers who raised $125 earn a t-shirt; swimmers who raise $250 earn a hoodie, and swimmers who raised $500+ receive both.
Age Group Awards Banquet

HRM Long-Term Aquatic Strategy
The HRM Council approved the Long-term Aquatic Strategy at its Council Meeting held May 14. Regional Council is moving forward with a long-term strategy for aquatic facilities in the municipality. Drawing from community and stakeholder consultation, the Aquatic Strategy will assess the long-term aquatic needs for HRM and provide recommendations to regional council by identifying gaps, opportunities and priorities within the system, and providing a strategic approach and specific actions to guide aquatic facility planning for the next 15 years.
The strategy can be found here: https://www.halifax.ca/sites/default/files/documents/city-hall/regional-council/190514rc1514.pdf
The scope of the strategy includes municipal indoor and outdoor pools, training and competition aquatic sport facilities, municipally supervised beaches and splash pads.
