ECA Hosts ECA Beach Invitational

East Carolina Aquatics hosted the 2019 ECA Beach Invitational, May 17-19, at the Sports Center in Morehead City.  Over 400 swimmers from ECA, the YMCA of the Triangle Area, Carolina Aquatic Team, and New South Swimming, competed in the long course venue.  The weather was perfect for an outdoor meet at the beach.

Owen Lin continued to rewrite the ECA record books with 6 new 9-10 Boys team records this weekend.  Lin’s 100 Breast time of 1:31.12 just edged out teammate Ezra Zapler’s 2018 time of 1:31.13.  He broke Zapler’s 200 Breast record as well by nearly 20 seconds with a time of 3:16.25.  He broke the 200 Back record set in 2009 by Kevin Andrews by 10 seconds posting 2:58.90.  His 200 Fly is the first recorded 200 Meter Fly by a 10-year-old swimmer with a great time of 2:59.98.  He also swept the IM records breaking Will Barker’s 2014 200 IM mark of 2:53.48 by 2 seconds in 2:51.96.   He took down his own 400 IM mark from last summer by over 45 seconds touching in 5:59.01.
