FAST Senior Swimmer Wins Prestigious Writing Award

Our FAST swimmers are more than just swimmers, they are fantastic students, as well! One of our very own senior group athletes Rya Kiernan won a prestigious writing competition; The Scholastic Art and Writing Competition.

Rya will be heading to New York City to receive the award in Carnegie Hall on June 6 th 2019. Her short story “Memories” won the gold medal at the national level out of 340,000 submissions! In addition to the national level winner, she also won The Gold Key at the regional level for her short story “Confessions of the Moon.” It is an incredible honor for her! She will be receiving this award in front of many notable speakers and people, such as Stephen King, Ansel Elgort, and a handful of Senators as well.

We are very proud of Rya and her accomplishments both in and out of the water.
