Video: Drowning Can Happen to Anyone
On Sunday, May 5th, 2019, the Katy area lost a five-year-old boy in an active community pool. This incident shocked the neighborhood in which it occurred, and began a conversation around how to raise awareness about youth drowning.
Thank you to Harris County ESD 48 Fire Department and Waller-Harris Emergency Service District #200 for helping to spread the message about water safety awareness. We encourage you to take a few minutes out of your day to watch the video posted in the link above.
It is the first segment of several educational videos that are being created to help prevent this kind of tragedy from happening again.
We would like to thank the residents and HOA of King Crossing for participating in the effort. Many of the children in the video were present at the pool when the incident happened. We would also like to thank Waller-Harris Emergency Service District #200 for joining in this effort. This was an emergency call in one of their subdivisions, and they graciously accepted the request to produce this piece.
As we celebrate summer with friends and family around Pools, Lakes and Rivers, please remember to take precaution when engaging in water-related activities. Drowning is Preventable
