Swim Team News – June 2, 2019
Welcome to the 2019 season. We’re off to a great start!
Remember to Register - Register online by clicking the Swim Team Registration button on our homepage. If you pay by check, still make sure to register for swim team online.
Confirming Meet Participation – You must register (or confirm) your swimmer for each meet that they will participate in. We started this a few years ago and it really does help to clarify athlete/meet attendance.
Click on the “Events & Meets” button on our homepage, and then on each individual meet to declare your child’s participation. Look for the “Edit Commitment” button at the top of the page. You can change this declaration up until two days before the meet. Let me know if you have any trouble with this process or any other questions.
7 & Under Swim Team – Most of our 5, 6, and many of our 7 year old swimmers only participate in time trials, our mini-meet, home pre-meets, and the SSSL “B-Champs” meet at the end of July. This gives a total of eight swim opportunities.
Time Trials – 6/8, 6/15, 6/20
Mini-Meet – 6/17
Home “Pre Meets” – 7/9, 7/11, 7/16, 7/18
SSSL B Champs – 7/26 @ Innis Arden
Time Trials –
June 8 (Saturday) – Time Trials I*
June 15 (Saturday) – Time Trials II*
June 20 (Thursday) – Time Trials III**
*Warmup @ 7:30am, 8U @ 7:50am, 10U @ 8:15am, 12U+ @9:00am
** Warmup @ 6:45pm, 8U @ 6:55pm, 10U @ 7:40pm, 12U+ @8:20pm
Warm up times are approximate.
Please try and attend at least one of the Time Trials. We like to have an initial time for your swimmer in all of the events. Swimmers will have a chance to confirm onlinewhich time trials and events they’re swimming during the meet declaration process. Brand new swimmers are not required to do all of the strokes.
Mini Meet - June 17, Monday – ( All 8U & 10U swimmers )- This is a great chance for all of our younger swimmers to get some more experience before our dual meet season begins. Warm up @ 6:45pm, meet starts at 7:00pm. We should be finished by 8:30pm. Older swimmers can still come to workout from 8:30-9:15pm.
Volunteering - We need at least 60 adult volunteers for every home meet. We have had a problem finding enough help in recent seasons. This year we’re trying something new - tracking swim team volunteer hours. Each family needs to commit to a minimum of five (5) hours of help over the summer season. Families with a balance at the end of the season will pay $25 per remaining hour. All of the jobs are pretty basic, but very essential to running a smooth and efficient meet. You also get some of the best seats in the house! If you have questions about timing (our largest need), here is a document that helps explain what you need to do. When you confirm your swimmer for a meet, please remember to also sign up for jobs.
Team Suits & Gear – This year our team suit is provided by swim2000.com(login ID – aqua, password – club). There is a “fit-kit” in the office. Make sure to try the suits on before you order!
We also have a team store for SwimOutlet.com. There are shits, shorts, sweats, and hats available for purchase.
Workout Times –
Once we move to our day workouts (starting June 24) our practice times will be as follows –
7:15-8:15am 13 +
Saturday Stroke Clinics – We have four more clinics offered this year. Sign up in the office to reserve your spot. Cost is $10.
6/22 - Diving/Starts + Turns
6/29 - Diving/Starts + Turns
7/6 - Diving/Starts + Turns
7/13 - Diving/Starts + Turns
Race Classes/Swim Lessons – Most of our younger swim team members still participate in either swim lessons or race classes. While we do try and cover all of the strokes and skills in workout, the smaller class sizes of our lesson program (and our great instructors) can really make a difference. Check with any of the coaches or office staff about which lesson your child should sign up for.
Email Addresses – If you want notices sent to a different email, or to additional addresses, please log into our website and make changes, or send a message back to me at email@example.com. Also, if you know anybody that we’ve missed on this distribution list, please let us know.
If you have any other questions about our team please feel free to ask!
