All - correction on previous message!  You may pick up caps and Tshirts at the swim meet on SATURDAY (not Thursday).  The message below has been corrected.

Greetings Stingrays,

We had a great first meet last Saturday!!!  Many thanks to all of you who work so hard to run our meets.  Thank you for your commitment and dedication to the team.  We received numerous compliments from the visiting team on how well the meet ran and how friendly and helpful our team parents are.

IMPORTANT INFORMATION:

  • There are still some swimmers who need to pick up their T-shirts and caps.  Please see a board member during the 7pm and 8pm practices or stop by the concessions stand during the swim meet on Saturday to pick up items.

  • Our next meet is this Saturday morning June 8th!!  We will have set up on Friday night starting at 7:00 pm.  Swimmer and parent check-in on Saturday morning at 7:45 am with warm-ups starting shortly after 8 am.

  • PLEASE DECLARE YOUR SWIMMERS FOR ALL MEETS ASAP!  Even if they are not attending, we need to know.  Please RSVP either yes or no.  All undeclared swimmers as of 12 noon the Wednesday prior to the meet will be left off the roster.

  • Parents - If something unexpected comes up and your swimmer will not be attending the meet and/or you won't be available for your  volunteer assignment please let us know  ASAP by emailing us at info@swimtfs.org.

  • PLEASE  STAY TO CLEAN UP!!  Thank you for all who helped to stay and clean up after the meet.  EVERYONE needs to stay to help cheer on the relay teams (even if your swimmer isn't in a relay) and to help clean up.  We have a short turn around time to get the pool ready for public swim.  We want to maintain our good relationship with the Rec Center by cleaning up and setting up the pool deck for them.  Thank you!

A note about DQs -  There were quite a few DQs at our first meet and this is to be expected.  DQs should not be thought of as punitive.  Instead, they are the feedback swimmers need to improve their technique to qualify for and do well at championships.  If you don't get upset about DQs, most likely your swimmer won't, either.  DQs should be used as a positive learning opportunity.  Some kids take years to figure out the right kick with the right stroke.  That's ok!!  They will get it over time.  Coaches will be reviewing general DQ information during practices.  Our  website also offers helpful information in the "practice drills" tab.  www.swimtfs.org
