Second Edition of Pan Am Sports Training Camp for Swimming
Second Edition of Pan Am Sports Training Camp for Swimming

The second edition of the UANA Pan Am Sports Training Camp is taking place at the Albergue Olimpico in Salinas, Puerto Rico. This is the first event hosted in the pool since the destructive hurricane Maria, who made the pool and facilities unusable.

A total of 36 swimmers and 16 coaches from 20 different National Federations of the Americas are taking part of the two weeks camp with very intense and specific training sessions in the water and in land. In addition to the regular practices all participants are attending theoretical classes with nutritionists, psychologists, strength and condition trainers and more.

Dr. Sokolovas is making individual biomechanics studies for each swimmer with important feedbacks.

Pan Am Sports used this camp as pioneer for its brand new "coaches development course" offered in collaboration with the US Olympic Committee and the Canada Coaches School.

Gianluca Alberani, head coach of Azura Florida Aquatics, was selected by UANA as Camp Director:

"This is the second time I have the opportunity to coordinate the camp, after the first edition last year in Florida. The camp is something unique, that gives swimmers and coaches from this side of the world the opportunity to working together, sharing experiences and knowledges. The final goal of the camp is to help some of these athletes qualifying for Finals A and B during the upcoming Pan-American Games in Lima and I'm really positive about it."

"I would like to give special thanks to the Puerto Rico Olympic Committee and Swimming Federation for their very professional organization and assistance during the whole camp activities. I hope this kind of activities and camps will continue to develop within the years to continue improving the level of all athletes and swimmers from the Americas."
