Hello Dolphin’s Families and Coaches,
USA Swimming has announced an enhanced set of Safe Sport Policies, collectively called the Minor Athlete Abuse Prevention Police (MAAPP). The changes stem from requirements imposed on USA Swimming by the U.S. Center for Safe Sport. The changes are required for member clubs and must be implemented and approved by members by June 23rd.
While some of the changes may be inconvenient, collectively as adults, there is no greater priority that we all share than the health, safety, and well-being of our athletes. Therefore, it is incumbent upon us as adults in the sport to adapt our practices to create the appropriate boundaries these policies seek to establish.
To meet the required deadline of having members approval of these new policies, each swimmer and coach will need to complete the Event registration for “2018-2019 MAAPP Acknowledgement”. The new policy and its highlights are detailed in this Event listing but can also be found in the dropdown menu in the new green tab on the Dolphin’s website labeled “Safe Sport”. Over the next month or so, I will be making updates to this tab with additional information regarding the Dolphins waivers and polices. For the 2019-2010 season, the required annual approval will be included in the swimmer’s registration.
Registration is REQUIRED before June 23rd to acknowledge that the athletes and their families along with coaches have reviewed the MAAPP contents and electronically registered your approval otherwise, your athlete CANNOT participate in practices or meets.
