Minor Athlete Abuse Prevention Policy (MAAPP)

USA Swimming had introduced a set of Safe Sports policies in April, 2019, collectively called the Minor Athlete Abuse Prevention Policy (MAAPP).  The changes stem from requirments imposed on USA Swimming by the U.S. Center of SafeSport. As a adults, there is not greater priority that we all share than the health, safety, and well being of our athletes.  Therefore, it is incumbent upon us as the YMCA of Dane County to adopt these policies to create the appropriate boundaries these policies seek to establish.  Under our tab "documents" - you will find the

Minor Athlete Abuse Prevention Policy Packet - each family needs to read thru

Acknowledgement of the Policy being received and read through - each parent and each YDC swimmer has to sign and return to your coach

Written permission form for child to travel with other families to swim meets and/or swim team practices - needs to be completed if pertains to your swimmer and copy given to each family and to your coach.

Written permissin form for a parent to provide vechicle transportation to swim meets and/or swim team practices - needs to be completed if pertains to your swimmer and copy given to each of those that it applies to and to your coach.

Written permission form for your child to stay in the same hotel room of, or share a sleeping arrangement or other overnight lodging location with another adult/family - needs to be completed if pertains to your swimmer and copy given to each of those that it applies to and to your coach

Written permission form to for your child to have one-on-one interaction with a mental health care profession and/or health care provider - needs to be completed if pertains to your swimmer and copy given to each of those that it applies to and to your coach

Written permission form to have a massage, rubdown and/or athletic training provided for your child - needs to be completed if pertains to your swimmer and copy given to each of those that it applies to and to your coach

It is the parents responsiblity to obtain a Minor Athlete Abuse Prevention Policy Packet and the acknowledgement form of the MAAPP - and you may do so by printing a copy from our web site under documents or see your coach or Becky Whiting at West or Robin Berg at East for hard copies.   The Acknowledgement form form both parents and each swimmer should be turned into your coach or Becky Whiting at West or Robin Berg at East.

It is the parents responsiblity to obtain and complete the appropriate permission forms regarding  travel or transportation for swim meets and/or swim team practice, overnight stays pertaining to swim meets, one-on-one intereaction with mental health care profession and/or health care providers, or massage therapist or other certified professionals.

Other forms that swim team families shall be aware of and complete and turn into your coaches - Behavior Agreement, Bullying Action Plan, WI Swimming Concussion Information and Electronic Communication Policy.
