18 Year Athletes MUST Complete This Training

REQUIRED COURSE FOR ANY ATHLETE, IN ANY SPORT, IN ANY SPORT ORGANIZATION

If you have an 18 year old athlete or any athlete who will turn 18 soon you need to see below and know that adherence to this policy. While it is a requirement for all USA Swimming member athletes it is actually originating from the USA Safe Sport Organization and is mandated for athletes in EVERY SINGLE sport in our country regardless of their sport affiliation (swimming, soccer, baseball etc. AND club, high school, college, etc). Effective July 23, if an 18 year old does not have this completed they may NOT compete at any level in any sport run by a sports organizational body.

July 23 rd  deadline approaches!

Starting July 23, 2019, 18+ athletes will not be permitted to swim in competition unless the Athlete Protection Training (APT) requirement has been met! A pre-meet membership verification will flag the athletes that have not completed the requirement and the meet host and club coach will be notified of the ineligibility.

Any 18+ athletes who plan to attend meets this summer July 23 or later (Sectionals, Futures, Jr/Senior Nationals, etc.), will need to meet the requirement in order to participate at the meet.

The training is free and online at:

Minor Athlete Abuse Prevention Policy (MAAPP)

All clubs should be well on their way to being compliant with MAAPP.

EDUCATION and INFORMATION are key to implementation of MAAPP and all Safe Sport policies.

·     INFORMATION: Sample forms are available on both the Ohio Swimming and USA Swimming web-sites. It is the responsibility of each club to make this information available to all members AND to have signed confirmation from members that they have received, and are aware, of the purpose, policies, and protocol for MAAPP and your club’s compliance.

There’s a convenient MAAPP information page on the OSI website under Safe Sport>MAAPP.

·     EDUCATION: Coaches, athletes, and parents all have educational opportunities. Coaches and adult athletes have required training modules. Minor athletes and parents also have appropriate and applicable training available as well. Training for Safe Sport is free at all levels!
