Big (Long) Swims at Friday Night at the Races

Competition wrapped up after three consecutive Fridays of swimming at this season’s Friday Night at the Races, hosted by Berkeley Aquatic Club in New Providence. Our 23 attending swimmers joined their peers from 14 other teams for a meet of fast swimming and earned top places, Career Best Times, and more.

It was a great meet for our NJB swimmers. Of our 121 splashes, 59 were Career Best (Long Course) Times; another 39 were our swimmers stepping out of their comfort zones and swimming new long course events! Many of these times were impressive drops like Paityn Bate’s 100 Breast (-10.14) and 200 IM (-12.49); Sadie Cornelius’ 100 Breast (-19.03); Ty Hollar’s 100 Back (-10.06), 100 Free (-51.27), 50 Breast (-22.60); and 50 Fly (-19.94); Ryan Juckett’s 100 Back (-24.85); Nathaniel Kern’s 200 IM (-12.54); and Jess Kiederling’s 100 Free (-28.95) just to name a few.

Our ‘Cudas earned Top Places in their age-group throughout the meet, including 15 Top 3 Finishes by Zach Bezold (3rd in the 100 Breast); Jonathan Kern (3rd in the 100 Back, 2nd in the 100 Breast, 2nds in the 50 Back, 50 Breast, 50 Fly); and Billy Ruddy (3rd in the 100 Fly). A special congratulations to our First Place earners Jonathan Kern (50 Free); Jordan Maruska (50 Back); Jake Riva (100 Back, 100 Free, 200 IM, 50 Fly, 50 Free); and Sam Russell (100 Breast)!

Great Job everyone, and good luck at Championships!
