Wildkats Wash Away Water Devils After Rain Delay

In the Wildakts first, and only, meet against a Division II opponent, they were able to “weather the storm” and beat Wickliffe, 266-136 in a shortened meet.

The start of the meet was initially delayed by two hours because of thunder and lightning, and then there was another 30-minute delay midway through. Because of both stoppages, the meet ended after event 50.

As for the swimming itself, Willowick won eight of the nine medley relays - dropping only the 16-18 girls relay because the WaterDevils swam unopposed.

Despite its swimmers competing in "off" events, the Wildkats still went on to win 33 of the individual events before the meet was called before the breaststroke races and free relays

Double winners for the Wildkats were: Miranda Conway (50 free/25 back), Elliot Suponcic (25 fly/50 free), Riley Lacinak(100 IM/50 free), Colton Cutwright (100 IM/50 free), Savannah Hirsch (50 free/100 free), Vinny Marsico (100 free/50 back), Sophia Trem (100 fly/100 free), Andrew Ingram (200 IM/100 fly), Bailey Detering (50 free/100 back), Megan Wayts (50 free/100 free) and Sam Ganim (200 IM/100 free).

The Wildkats will play host to both Highland Heights and Cleveland Heights on Saturday, July 7. It'll be the third consecutive, and final, home meet of the season for Willowick.
