Summer HOD

HOD Meeting will be held Saturday, July 20, 2019 in the Hospitality tent immediately following prelims.

Due to the last minute details of this meet and the distance clubs must travel we will only address the following:

1)Championship meet hosts
"Bids to host the Winter and Summer State Meets shall be submitted to the General Chair and the Age Group Vice-Chair at least 14 days prior to the Summer HOD meeting. Bids shall include written confirmation of pool availability from the pool administrator for the date.

The Age Group Vice-Chair shall distribute to each WSI club a list of bidders together with any information provided by the bidders.  Absentee ballots may be submitted to the General Chair for those clubs not attending the summer HOD meeting. (P&P IV. WSI Championship Meets C. Bids)

Deadline for submission of Bids is July 6, 2019. All bids with any information provided will be emailed to all clubs after the deadline.

Winter Champs Date is March 6-8

2)  The HOD shall select “Priority Meet” dates during the Summer Championship Meet between the preliminaries and finals on Saturday.
"Prior to the Summer Championship Meet, clubs desiring a priority meet must confirm in writing that the facility to be used is available.  Clubs should have facility-approved back up dates in case they do not receive their first choice of date.

The names of clubs who have submitted written confirmation of facility availability shall be drawn randomly and allowed to choose their priority meet date in the order they are drawn.  After each club desiring a priority meet has received a date, other dates may be selected."

WYSI is required by USA Swimming to update their Bylaws and submit to USA Swimming prior to January 1, 2020.  I have been working on this requirement and only changing and/or adding that which is required and discussing said updates with the BOD.

Postponed Discussion and Vote on USA Swimming Bylaws Updates:
WYSI is required by USA Swimming to update their Bylaws and submit to USA Swimming prior to January 1, 2020.  I have been working on this requirement and only changing and/or adding that which is required and discussing said updates with the BOD.

It was our intention to present any and all changes at the HOD this weekend.  However, given that the BOD is now making last minute preparations to host the Championship Meet in an unfamiliar pool,  given that many clubs have traveled quite a distance and, given that our current Bylaws allow for vote via mail,  I have decided that after the BOD has time to converse regarding any changes and come to a final recommendation, all voting members of the HOD will be sent the recommended updated bylaws and asked to vote.

The update Bylaws will most likely be sent to clubs for a vote sometime in September since our athlete reps and other BOD members will be heading to zones and we will all need to recover from summer.

Feel free to read over this over and send me any input or thoughts you might have regarding changes.

Safe Travels Everyone,
Cindy
