Letter to Marlin Families

Hello Marlin Families-

I wanted to provide an explanation for the current practice schedule. We have decided to keep morning practice at Arden Manor Pool as it has been a reliable facility and it is available during AM hours in order to avoid any 6 a.m. cancellations. We opted to keep the evening practice at Rosemont which would allow us time to communicate any cancellations. After much deliberation and research, we have decided to continue to hold evening practice at Rosemont with the understanding that the District has fixed the issue with the controller per the Plant Manager. We are double checking everyday before evening practice to make sure the chemical levels are safe for practice. We have continued to look at alternative sites outside of CRPD boundaries in the event that Rosemont continues to be unreliable after this week.  The goal we are focusing on is consistent practice options for morning and evening.

We have also received many requests for updates on the Hagan pool project. Here is the update from our Planning Department:

"The Cordova Community Pool project is moving full speed ahead! In early 2019, Cordova Recreation & Park District’s Board of Directors approved a two-pool design, sending the project design team, consisting of LPA (the pool design consulting firm), District staff and representatives from the City, to work on refining details of the design. On March 4, the City of Rancho Cordova City Council approved a “Minor Design Review” and “Conditional Use Permit.” With this approval the project team proceeded to finish 100% of the design documents. The design team will seek building permit approvals in the second half of 2019. As soon as building permits are secured, the project will be put out for public bid. CRPD anticipates the bid process to occur during the winter of 2019-2020 and a pool construction contract to be finalized in early 2020.  The construction will take about 14 months, not including unforeseen conditions and/or weather delays. The District’s goal is to open the pool facility in mid-2021." They are waiting for building permit approvals and then they will be able to take it to the Board of Directions for approval to go out to bid.

I am extremely sorry for the inconvenience and we will continue to share information as it’s made available. If you have any questions, contact me or Brandi at 916-369-9844.
