News and Notes

We hope all our FCYST families have recovered from the awesome weekend we had hosting the 21st Annual Bird Bath Invitational.  Thank you again to all our outstanding families who helped make this event possible.  The positive comments we heard from attending swimmers, coaches, families and friends is a tribute to the hard work of so many of our families.  We could not host the largest outdoor swim meet in the Midwest without the time, energy and commitment from you.  Thank you for making such a large impact in the lives of so many children!

FCYST is looking forward to a fun, team building weekend up at Camp Nan A Bo Sho.  The bus will arrive at the Appleton Y at 1:45pm to start loading.  The bus will depart at 2pm sharp!  Coach Elizabeth reached out to families who still need to turn in Health History Forms.  Swimmers will not be allowed to attend if their forms are not turned in.  Please refer to the email that was sent on Tuesday for the Health History Form if you still need one, the Packing List and other important Camp information.

-Practice Changes:  Please note the changes in our practice schedule over the next few weeks:

  • Saturday, July 13:  No practices, FCYST is going to Camp!
  • Saturday, July 20:  No practice as we are attending Silver State and Sunset on Summer meets.
  • Wednesday, July 24:  No Open Swim in the evening as we are having our State Send Off Party at Erb.

-Steering Committee Meeting, July 11:  The next Steering Committee Meeting will take place tonight at the Appleton Y in the Plexus Room.  The meeting will begin at 5:30pm.  All FCYST parents are welcome to attend.

-End of the Year USA State Cookout and Pool Party, July 24:  To celebrate the FCYST swimmers who qualified and are attending Long Course USA State this season, we have planned a Cookout and Pool Party at Erb for all FCYST swimmers and their families!  This fun team party will take place on July 24.  We will cookout hamburgers and hotdogs in the Pavilion starting at 6:30pm.  FCYST will provide the meat, buns, plates, napkins and utensils.  We ask that all attending families sign up to bring a dish to pass.  The meter pool, slides and kid pool will open at 8:15pm and remain open until 9:15pm.  Sign up is posted to our website.  This is for all FCYST swimmers and families.  Come and help us congratulate our State Teams and send them off with lots of luck!

-Long Course USA State Meets:  12&U and 13&O USA State Meets will be here before we know it!  Swimmers must be USA registered to swim in these meets and have qualifying times.  If you think your child may be asked to swim on a State relay, please commit your swimmer so we know they are available for relays if needed.  Swimming at State, whether it is as an individual or as a relay swimmer is such an awesome privilege!  The information for both State meets is on our website.

-Last Day of Practice:  Hard to even believe the season is coming to an end.  Our last day of practice for the Long Course season will be Wednesday morning, July 31st

-Tervis Mugs For Sale:  We have a few 2019 Bird Bath Invitational Tervis mugs left!!!  They are available for purchase for $20.  Please contact the swim team office to claim yours today!  They make great end of the season gifts!  A picture is included in this News and Notes.

-MAAPP Registration:  Thank you to all our swimmers and families who completed the Minor Athlete Abuse Prevention Policy registration.  If you have not taken the time to complete this, please click HERE to review the Policy and to register.  This will be part of our Annual Registration process in the future.  FCYST is committed to a safe environment for our athletes to participate.  Thank you for your support of SafeSport!

-Weather Cancellation Policy:  Our weather policy is to cancel outdoor practices and possibly indoor Y facility practices in the event of thunder or lightning or if the parks or Y Staff say conditions are not safe for us to swim.  If this occurs in the middle of practice, FCYST coaches will remain with swimmers until either conditions improve and we return to the pool or all swimmesr are picked up.  We will send out a cancellation notification via email, Facebook and a posting on the team website in the News section by 5:20am for 6:00am practice or by 7:00am for 8:00am practices.  No notification means practice is still on.  We do our best to practice whenever possible.  Rain or cold are conditions we will still hold practice in unless it becomes severe.  Some mornings we will have the option of moving practice to Lawrence University for some of our groups, we would include this information in the notification that goes out.
