Coaches Notes

I am incredibly proud of the progress this team made over the last year!  I want to give a special thank you to Rachel Mika (JPAC President) who spent hundreds of volunteer hours this past year improving volunteerism.  Our Summer Classic was a huge hit with the teams who attended, and we doubled our profit from last year’s Classic!  Job well done, Rachel!

My talented (and extremely fun!) worked their magic this season.  Last summer season we brought 38 swimmers to the Y State Meet, and this summer season we brought 44!  While 6 additional swimmers may not seem like a lot, it is the building blocks of growing competitive depth on our team.  I want to congratulate our 44 JETS who will represent us at Y State this weekend!  I’ve attached the list of qualifiers for your convenience.

I want to encourage all our swimmers to keep working hard, keep coming to practice, and keep asking for feedback.  Many of the swimmers who are swimming this weekend did not make the Y State Team last season – they persevered and got great results!

End of Season Party:

Join us (and register your swimmer!) for the End of Season Pool Party which will take place on Sunday, Aug 11th from 10:30 am – 2:00 pm (you can stay later than that) at the Morris City Pool in Morris, IL!  This is a party for the whole family!  When you register, put in the notes how many people will be attending from your family, and don’t forget to register to bring a potluck item!  Signup on Team Unify, now!

Private Lessons:

Many families begin to ask at this point in the season, “Is there anything my swimmer can do between now and the start of the next season?”  Private Lessons with our very own swim coaching staff can be arranged at the front desk of the Avery Y – make sure you specify which coach you’d like as an instructor!  Your swimmers are all members of the Y which allows them to continue to swim on their own!  Check each pool schedule for lap swimming and open swim times.  Be aware that the Smith Y and the Avery Y pools will be drained for a portion of August, so during those times, you can utilize Galowich Y.  What does Coach Ashleigh recommend?  Have fun for the rest of the summer!  We’ll see you soon enough!

Final Season Billing (Aug 1st):

Just a reminder, that while all your monthly dues have been collected for the season, however, you will still receive a bill on Aug 1st to cover any entry fees from the Summer Classic Meet forward.  See next note for deficit billing.

Billing for Volunteer & Fundraising Deficit:

The deficit billing for volunteering and fundraising will be invoiced for a draw on Aug 1st.  Rachel Mika already sent out the information regarding the volunteer deficits.  Your fundraising deficits and volunteering deficits will be invoiced this week for your review.  Questions regarding Volunteering & Fundraising Deficits should be directed at Rachel Mika – rzmika@gmail.com.

Finally, I hope you join us next season of swimming with the JETS!  Lookout for registration information for returning families to be available in about a week!
