Langley Olympians Swim Club swimmers Bailey Herbert (16) attended the Los Angeles Invitational swim meet from July 11th -14th at the Uytengsu Aquatics Center at the University of Southern California. The LA Invitational is a high calibre meet that is known to attract high performance athletes from all over the world. Past attendees were 200 and 400 IM World Record Holder Katinka Hosszu, Olympic Silver Medalist and Canadian Ryan Cochrane, among others.
Bailey won a gold medal in the 200m Breaststroke with a time of 2:30.74, 1 second faster a week before in the BC Provincial Championships. She also placed 6th in the 100m Breaststroke with a time of 1:11.14, 7th in the 400m Individual Medley with a time of 4:58.85 and 8th in the 200m Individual Medley with a time of 2:19.95.
The LA Invitational meet was a great way for Bailey to train and prepare for the upcoming World Jr Championships which will be held from August 20th – 25th in Budapest, Hungary. Bailey will be swimming as part of Team Canada at this biennial meet. This meet welcomes National teams from all over the world and their top swimmers ages 14–17 girls and 15–18 boys. Bailey will continue to train and prepare for the World Jr Championships and we are looking forward to seeing her continue to succeed.
