Greetings from the Glenwood newsroom.  This is it—the final weekend of the Glenwood Tigers 2019 competitive season in Division D!

It’s been fast-paced and, we hope you agree, fun for everyone.  But don’t pack up the green gear just yet.  We have one more really big meet for the team and a couple more opportunities to celebrate still ahead.

Tonight’s 6:30 p.m. pep rally, the last of the season, is a tradition.  Contestants compete in Glenwood fashion, spirit, and trivia to earn the coveted annual title of Mr. and Mrs. Glenwood!  We crown winners for the junior group and for the seniors, so bring the spirit, Tigers!

Also bring water and a swim suit so you can stay cool at the pool!

The final contest for the Glenwood Tigers in Division D is tomorrow at River Falls!  All six teams in the division will send their fastest two swimmers in every event, as will MCSL teams all over the county in divisions A-O.

In our division, Quince Orchard has held onto the top spot all season and leads with 40 points going into the champs meet.  But c’mon—we’ve got the better story here!  Glenwood came in seeded last and is now No. 2, with 30 points.  We’re followed closely by No. 3 River Falls with 26, we we’ll need to swim fast.

Coach Kelly sent out the meet lineup in her update last weekend.  We have yet to receive a meet program from River Falls.  If those heat sheets become available before the meet, we will send them out right away.

Division champs begin at 8 a.m.  Warm-ups for our  team are at 7:20 a.m.  Swimmers should meet in our team area at River Falls by 7:10am.  The River Falls Community Center address is 7915 Horseshoe Lane in Potomac.  That’s here.  The meet starts at 8.

We invite all our loyal Glenwood supporters to bring the spirit tomorrow morning—we need you!  We have a team area with plenty of room for everyone and the races are exciting.

But.  It will be HOT.  AccuWeather forecasts a high of 99, but it will feel like 110 degrees!

The team will supply plenty of extra water and Gatorade for our swimmers and families, but please bring your own water bottle.  There will not be enough lawn chairs for all, so please bring your own portable chairs if possible.  Extra shade tents would also be greatly appreciated to help us provide as much relief from the sun as possible for swimmers, coaches, and families.

You know the deal by now:  Dinner, awards, dancing.  Our team banquet is a can’t miss event, so log into your account and order your tickets here now.  Ticket sales end Sunday morning at 9 a.m.

We are still collecting money for gifts for our Glenwood coaches. If you would like to contribute, please leave your payment in the Vagnucci family folder in the managers' office at the pool.  If you would like to leave a check, please make it payable to Glenwood.  New this year, we are also accepting payments by Venmo (@vboys) or by PayPal ([email protected]). Please make your contribution by Monday, July 22.

That’s all the news for now, Parents.  Swim fast, Tigers!
