Pacific Committee Championships Recap

Beach 1
Annie Coyne jumped at the opportunity to participate in her first Committee Championship meet and smashed her previous best time in the 50 Breast (from the week prior) by making some minor technical adjustments, learning in the process that the little things do make a big difference!

Annie Coyne (9-10 Girls)
50 Breast - 18th 54.37p (-3.15)

Beach 2
Beach 2 had a couple swimmers at Pac champs. 2 achieved new JO cuts and even had an event overall champion. They also had, a few events that made it back to Finals. Great Job beach 2, can’t wait to have more of you at our championship meets in the future.

Jake Everitt
Jake had a phenomenal pacific committee championship meet! He swam Friday and Saturday and he finales/ drop time on both days. The highlight of jakes meet was the 50 meter freestyle, in which he swam fast enough at prelims to be seeded first at finals. At prelims Jake swam a 36.33 which was just .03 off of the JO cut! But... at finals Jake gave it all he had and won the boys 9-10 50m freestyle and snagging a JO cut with a time of... 34.54!

Marlo Harris
This was Marlo’s very first championship meet! She swam on Friday and Saturday, and made it back to Finals on both days! She got a few best times and great swims! An impressive swim she had was the 100m Backstroke, in which she dropped 2.62 seconds and placed 5th overall!! Great job Marlito!

Jaden Morse
This was also Jaden’s first championship meet. Jaden swam all days and made it back to finals in most of his events. Leading up to PAC Champs, Jaden was .31 away from the JO cut in his 50 back! He swam at prelims and missed it by .02! But.... Jaden thought about his swim, Tweaked a few small things, came back at finals and snagged his JO cut by .02! Placing 2nd overall in the boys 9-10 50M backstroke!

Amelia Tucker
Amelia swam the 50 fly this weekend. Amelia was no stranger to Pac champs as this was her second pac champs of the year! She swam the 50 fly and did really well! I think the best part of her meet was getting to experience swim the Anchor leg of a relay at finals! She did great in bit of her swims! Great job Amelia!

Beach 5
The weather wasn’t the only thing that was Hot down at El Toro High School, so were the Beach 5 Swimmers! Beach 5 the positive energy you brought to the pool made the weekend very enjoyable. I thoroughly enjoyed watching you all race, drop times, get cuts, but most importantly having fun and laughing with your teammates! That is exactly what championship meets are meant to be like fast swims and big smiles! Thank you Beach 5 for a wonderful season!

Senior 1
Tommy Nathan: Tommy powered his way to d ropping a whopping full second in his 50 free to qualify him for JOs!  However, he added a second in the 100 free with an unfortunate wall miss.

Jonathan Wang: Adding a lot of focus to his kick training has given Jonathan the extra speed he needed to drop a full second in his 50 Free.  In the 100 Free, late starts and a missed turn slowed him down with a +1 second in his 100.

Senior 2 (2 1 st time JO Qualifiers with 2 events)
James Coyne (20.5 points)-Best times in four of his five events. Top 16 in three events, Top 8 in another.

Alexander Davies (9 points)- Best times in six of his seven events. Top 16 in one event.

Peyton French (17 points)- Best times in six of her eight events. Top 16 in four events.

Jack Humphrey (38 points)-Best times in five of his six events, including an amazing 30+ second drop in his 1500! Top 8 in two events, Top 16 in another two events.

Luke Langton (15 points)- Coming off an illness, he only swam two events. Top 8 in one event!

Will Langton (62 points)-1 st time JO qualifier. Best times in six of his seven events. Dropped 32+ seconds in his 1500 to qualify for JOs in that event. Also broke 5:00 for the first time in the 400 Free. Top 8 in four events, Top 16 in another two events.

Hudson Powers (15.5 points)- Best times in five of his seven events. Top 16 in five of his events.

Naomi Scott (57 points)-1 st time JO qualifier. Best times in six of her seven events.  Dropped an astonishing 38+ seconds in her 1500, which she qualified for JOs in.  Dropped another 17+ in her 800 free (which she won). Top 8 in three events, Top 16 in another.

Lucan Sorensen (5 points)-Best times in five of his seven events. Top 16 in two events. Had two great races in the 200 IM, swimming next to teammate Max Colomer both times.

Clara Soricut (12 points)-Best times in five of her seven events. Top 8 in one event, Top 16 in another.

Ellison Toone-Only attended one day. Best time in one of her two events.

Senior 3
Senior 3 had 9 swimmers attend Pac Comm champs this year. Some already had a full line up of JOs, and some attended the Alpha Aquatics Summer Classic the weekend before.

The swimmers who braved the long prelims and final sessions at Pac Champs were, Alex Chun, Max Colomer, Nick Cutsail, Sammie Hall, Kylie Hamilton, Jessica Hirshberg, Faith Iwanaka, Jack O’Shaughnessy, and Nicole Ungaro.

Some fantastic results all around. I was so happy to watch everyone race after they have trained so hard.

Alex Chun walked away with many personal bests and a JO cut in 200Back (dropped 4.80 sec), and 100Back (dropped 4.61sec). He just missed his cuts in all free strokes and very close in Fly. He has much to look forward to next year. For now he will attend JOs next week.

Max Colomer had a fantastic meet, with personal best in everything he swam. He made his JO cut in  200Back, dropping 6.16sec! Way to go Max! He also dropped in all his freestyle events, with the most notable being nearly a 1min drop in his 800 free.

Nick Cutsail dropped in all events, making finals in all events. Nick even stepped in to cover a leg for the boy 15-16 400 Free Relay, despite having other commitments that evening. Great team contribution Nick!

Sammie Hall already has a full line up of JO cuts, and after overcoming being ill for the past couple weeks, came out to contribute to relays and just have some fast swims without expectations. To her surprise, Sammie managed to drop 11.74 seconds in 200 Back from her time in May, snagging another JO. Sammie has cuts in every stroke but freestyle, so we know what she will be aiming for!

Kylie Hamilton has also had a great year, and has been struggling with some muscle issues for the past couple weeks. It was great to see her come out to Pac Champs now that she is recovered.  Kylie came to get a cut in 100Fly, and she did just that. Way to go Kylie, we will see you at JOs.

Jessica Hirshberg came out to swim 200 Breast and 50 free, despite feeling a little under the weather. She dropped on her 200 Breast, and came back to swim in finals.  Great way to push through Jessica!

Faith Iwanaka, dropped nearly 5sec in her 200 Free (2:41.18) and 6 sec in her 400 Free (5:36.85). Great job Faith. Keep working hard.

Jack O’Shaugnessey has been so close to his JOs in so many events, we had him attend both meets. He cut all his times but was so close in 100 fly, 1:10.47 (JO cut is 1:10.40) . Way to work and push so hard Jack. We will see you at JOs this weekend.

Nicole Ungaro came out to Pac Champs on Sunday competing in 200IM, 200 Breast, and 100 Free. Nicole has been working hard at 2 sports for the summer. She will continue to train hard in the fall.

Senior 4
Senior 4 sent 10 swimmers to Pac Champs and we did a great job racing, making finals and making adjustments from the morning. The group as a whole looks fantastic and ready for excellence at JOs.

Griffin Colomer (25 points) - After learning a hard lesson about sideways backstroke flags in the 400 IM Griffin came back strong matching his 50 and 100 fly time on Friday. He also helped his 400 Free Relay team win. Saturday racing next to his brother he threw down a 6 second drop in the 200 free going 2:17. Griffin also put up a great 400 free dropping 9 seconds going 4:53.0 at night. Sunday saw some small drops in the 100 free and 200 IM.

Matthew Frey (32 points) - Matthew raced Friday and Saturday and kicked it off with a 4 second drop in his 100 breast and 100 fly. Matthew also helped on the boys 15 and over winning 400 free relay. Saturday saw a 7 second drop in his 200 free where he finished 7th and a 7 second drop in his 400 free for a 5th place finish.

Ryan Haddad (20 points) - Ryan came down only to race the 100 free where he managed to not only snag a new JO cut but win the race with a 1:00.56 and a 2.2 second drop.

Tiara Jackson (17 points) - Tiara was coming off some vacations but did a great job of making adjustments from the morning at Finals finishing 12th in the 200 free and 7th in the 400 free on Saturday. Sunday she also dropped in everything at night finishing 18th in the 200 IM and 22nd in the 100 free.

Mason McEwen (50 points) - Mason had a nice drop in his 100 breast finishing 6th overall and also snagged a 10th place finish in the 50 free. Mason also helped on the 15 and over boys 400 free winning relay team. Sunday Mason put together a great 200 IM dropping 1.1 and finishing 5th overall at finals. Most impressive was his 100 free at finals where he finished 4th going 58.76 and dropping 2.5 overall.

Austin Morse (3 points) - Austin was fighting off a sickness and only raced Friday. He dropped a bit in his 50 free and then pushed the sub kicks a bit too far at finals in the 100 fly... :)  Austin also raced on the 3rd place boys 13/14 400 free relay.

Emily Pitman (77 points) - Emily dropped in every event and looks back to being race ready. Emily finished 4th in the 200 back with a 6 second drop in the morning. Emily won the 50 free going 29.86, first time under 30 and also had a nice 3 second drop in her 100 fly. Emily finished 7th in the 200 IM with a 4.5 drop at finals and finished 4th in the 100 free dropping a bit.

Ryan Rogers - Ryan had a nice 100 breast Friday morning dropping 2 seconds and also a small drop in his 50 free going 28.9. Ryan then learned a hard lesson about the importance of making sure you scratch out of Finals if you aren't staying... :)

Kira Rusalov (17 points) - Kira came down to race just the 50 free and finished 2nd going 29.93 and dropping under 30 for the first time!

Andreea Soricut (97 points) - Andreea raced a full 3 day schedule and had some ups and downs, learning to not over swim her races and just have fun. She finished 9th in the 100 breast, 8th in the 50 free and 3rd in the 100 fly. Saturday she had a great 100 back dropping 4 seconds and finishing 5th in that and also in the 400 free with a small drop. Sunday Andreea dropped in her 200 IM finishing 11th and racing a great 100 free finishing 3rd.
