New Head Coach

21 July 2019 (Beaumont, AB) – The Triton Swim Club is very excited to announce and welcome their new Head Coach, Susana Escobar.

Susana is a two time Olympian (Beijing 2008 and London 2012), and a current Mexican record holder in three (3) Olympic events.  Susana graduated from the University of Texas (where she had a 100% swimming scholarship) in Health Promotion and Fitness. While in Texas she was team captain and an All-American.

Susana started coaching in 2012 with Hamilton Aquatic Club (HAC) in the greater Toronto area of Ontario. Susana initiated and developed an open water summer program in Toronto and ran the dryland program. She has a very strong commitment to her athletes during the “off season” and has a passion for developing and following the progression of her swimmers in the middle, and long distance swimming disciplines.  While at HAC, she was able to grow the swim school program in Hamilton, largely recognized as a “hockey” town.

Susana will be bringing that experience with her to the Triton program where she will to continue to build a strong base of swimmers in the Triton Can Swim (TCS) program.  Susana will work closely with Triton President, Jeff Vandersteen, and the volunteer board of directors, in order to meet Triton organization philosophies of training and coaching, and its strategic plan.

“We were impressed by Susana’s track record with Hamilton Swim Club.  Susana will certainly bring international experience and knowledge, as well as a strong work ethic with her on the pool deck.  With recent Swimming Canada initiatives to build successful competitors through the development and enhancement of its female coaches, Triton Competitive Swim Society (TCSS) is pleased to support and empower Susana in her new role,” says Jeff Vandersteen, President TCSS.

Susana will be taking up her duties with Triton Swim Club on September 1st, 2019.

We are fortunate to have such an accomplished coach lead and mentor our swimmers.  Please join us in welcoming Susana into our Triton family of Novice and Competitive swimmers.
