After suffering what turned out to be their only loss of the season, the Willowick Wildkats were able to rattle off four wins in a row and now are riding a wave of momentum heading into the two-day Championship Meet this upcoming weekend.
The Wildkats finished the regular season with a 5-1 overall record (4-1 in Division I) after a 359-229 victory over the host South Euclid-Lyndhurst SeaMonkeys.
This final meet marked the return of a lot of Willowick's 16-18 year old swimmers, who scored a lot of points and padded the final score.
Leading the way for the Wildkats, yet again, was 8 & Under Miranda Conway, who broke yet another 25 backstroke record. Her 21.25 second swim is a new SEL pool record, breaking the mark set four summers ago. Miranda also won her 50 freestyle race.
The other double winners for the Wildkats were Nathaniel Peters (50 free, 25 breast), Elliot Suponcic (25 fly, 25 back), Colton Cutwright (50 free, 100 free), Drew Morbeto (100 IM, 50 fly), Holly Suponcic (200 free, 100 IM), Izzy Trem (100 IM, 100 free), Jack Gogala (50 free, 50 breast), Sally Dempsey (200 IM, 100 free), Andrew Ingram (50 free, 100 free), Rachel Dempsey (200 IM, 100 breast), Grace Suponcic (200 free, 100 fly), John Byrne (50 free, 100 free) and Ian Grzincic (200 free, 100 back).
Willowick will begin the quest for that elusive Championship Meet title Saturday at Willougby, before finishing the season Sunday at Wickliffe.
