Weekly Notes for July 29-August 3

Swim Break:  We're now on a Swim Break...NO Practices...for ALL Groups.  We'll resume August 26.

Swimmer Recognition & Awards BanquetWednesday, August 7 (5:30-7pm), in Multi-Purpose Room (2nd floor YMCA).  For swimmers in the Bronze-Silver-Gold-Senior Groups.  Pizza, placesettings, & water provided.  We'll charge your account $4 per person for the pizza.  Here's a Signup Genius Link.  We're asking each family to bring either a Salad, Fruit, or Desert to share> .  There is also a link in the Events Section.   Swimmer/Family Banquet Registration... Go to Events and Click this events link.  In the commitment notes, type in how many people will be attending.  You only have to do 1 swimmer per family (but type how many total will attend).

Swimmer Move-ups:  Will be emailing notifications in 7-10 days for those 'graduating' to the next group level.

Stroke Clinic / Practice Start-up:  When we resume August 26, we'll have a 2-week Stroke Clinic.  The focus will be Stroke Technique.  The Stroke Clinic will be held August 26-30 (M-F) & September 3-6 (T-F).  11&Unders will be 4:30-5:30 and 12&Overs from 5:30-6:45.  On September 9, we'll move into our normal group practice times.

New Swimmer Evaluations:  Please encourage anyone you know who may be interested in Swim Team!  Swimmers can set up an Evaluation at anytime during the year, but we'd like as many as possible to attend an Evaluation during the first week.  If they qualify for Swim Team (Bronze-Silver-Gold-Senior), they can then attend the Stroke Clinic being held August 26-September 6).  Set Evaluations will be held on Monday & Tuesday, August 26-27, from 4:30-6:00pm.  They can come anytime during this time.  These Individual Evaluations will take approximately 10-minutes, depending on the number waiting to be evaluated.  If they qualify for one of our swim groups, they will be able to attend the Stroke Clinic.

Practice & Meet Schedule:  I hope to have these published by August 15.  I hope to run a very similar schedule to last years.  One change will be with Silvers, who's practice time will increase to 1 hour & 15 minutes (105 minutes).  The practice schedule is still dependant on coach availability (see below).

Assistant Swim Coach(es):  I'm still looking for 1-2 assistant coaches for the upcoming season.  Megan will be leaving for ECU and Joe will be in the Air Force.  If you know of anyone, please have them contact me.  Hours/days are flexible, depending on their schedules.

Good Luck & Congratulations Jack Wisniewski!  Best of Luck to Jack, who'll be attending the 2019 YMCA Long Course National Championships on July 30-August 3, in College Park, MD.    Jack has also been selected as 1 of 22 YMCA Swimmers in the country to be on the 2019 YMCA Swimming Emerging Leader Academy.

Masters Swimming:  There will be a Masters Swim Team starting this September.  Times are still be worked out.  I know we'll be offering a 5:30-6:30AM practice on Mon/Wed/Fri, and also either a noon or early evening practice.  This is a dependent on finding another coach(es) to help with all the groups.  More information will be posted in the future.

Barry's Vacation:  I'll be taking a vacation August 8-24.  I will be periodically checking my email so if you have questions please let be know (but it may be a day or two of hearing back from me).
