Weekly Update 7-29-19
Hey TNAQ! Congratulations to all who competed in the GKAISA City Meet this past weekend. It was very gratifying to see so manyTNAQ swimmers earning best times, spots in the Finals, winning events, and setting new records. The summer league teams are a vital part of the introduction to competitive swimming and the TNAQ coaches are very proud of the example the TNAQ set in their team support, sportsmanship, and success in the pool. If you know of families who are interested in swimming a bit more during the year, please have them talk to one of our coaches or check out the website about info on the 1 week trial.
There was one swim that was potentially relevant nationally. Ben Ramirez may have set a new American Record in the 50 yard free for his class in US Paralympic swimming. We are in the process of applying for record consideration. His time of 24.48 is faster than the existing record. Great swim Ben!
TNAQ athletes will be participating in 4 final championship meets over the next 2 weeks. We will be represented by 26 swimmers at the Phillips 66 Senior National meet in Palo Alto, there will be 13 swimmers competing at the USA Futures Meet in Greensboro, then 2 swimmers will be competing at the Speedo Junior National Championship in Palo Alto, and finally we will have 12 divers at the USA Diving Junior Nationals here in Knoxville. Cheer on the swimmers even if they are far away!
Practices will resume for returning swimmers around August 21st and 22nd. Updates on the new season will be forthcoming. Coaches will be taking a bit of time away from the pool over the next 2-3 weeks, but will happily return any emails once they are back in the office.
The tentative short course meet schedule is listed on the website. Please mark your calendars.
Upcoming practice changes:
If practices, groups, or locations are not mentioned then they will follow the normal schedule found by clicking here.
Masters practices may be altered while the AJ facility is closed August 8-19. We will keep you updated on any changes.
Please edit your commitment for each meet by selecting either “attend” or “decline” on the website. It helps immensely when the coaches know with certainty each swimmer’s plans for a meet.

October 6 - TNAQ Awards Ceremony. Olympic swimmer Missy Franklin will be the guest speaker.
