2019 Long Course Far Western Championships

CDST had a significant improvement in this year's long course Far Western Championships, especially in the young age group. We had a total of 8 swimmers entered for the individual events, and 15 relay events.  

Age Group

Leo Gao final all his events. He got 4th in his 50 Freetryle with the time of 28.04, and 8th in the 100 Freestyle. He got his best 100 freestyle time in the prelims, 1:01.80. Justin Ely, also one of our best age group freestyler. He got 30.20 in his prelims. But he had a 29.40 in the 11-12 boy 400 Freestyle relay which helps the team got 3rd in this event. 

Elton Lee entered two events in this meet, he didn't get all his best time, but he had a good back to back meets with very consistent times. His times are 50 free, 26.79 and 100 free, 1:00.11. He also swam all 13-14 relays for EBA. Edward Huang just turned 13 this year, and Far Western was his third championship meet in three weeks back to back. With age disadvantage and tired body, he didn't do great in the first two days of the meet. After one day recover, he bounced back with personal best 100 backstroke time 1:04.87 and made the final for this event. He placed 8th in the end. Angela D'Amelio, Medha Raghuraman, and Ryin Ruaboro joined the 13-14 relays. 

Senior Group 

Jasper Wu, Felix Martinez, Hanlin Chen, and Anthony Lee entered this meet in the 15-18 age group. All of them were having a travel meet at Santa Clarita for 5 days. After they came back and before their first Far Western event, they only got three days of recovering. The following is the highlights from their age group.

  • Hanlin Chen 200 Freestyle, 2:05.66 Personal Best in LC
  • Anthony Lee 100 Fly relay splits, 1:08.00 that save the 15-18 Medley Relay
