Anna Freed won the 100 backstroke at the USA Futures Meet in
Greensboro, NC. Her time of 1:02.71 is not only a lifetime best but
is only .02 seconds away from her Olympic Trials cut. Prior
to that she won the consolation heat in the 200 fly with another
personal best of 2:18.0. Sumner Chmielewski swam to two
personal bests finishing 3rd in the 200 Butterfly in 2:18.0 and
10th in the 400 free in 4:23.0.
Dimiter Zafirov was the youngest swimmer in the mens 400 free finals, finishing 7th. His LTB on the day was 4:03.8. Ian Brann also had a pair of best times with a 24.3 in the 50 free in the evening finals and took 15th place points in the 100 back in a time of :59.3. Rene Strezenicky swam the 400 free and posted best times both in prelims and finals, his final time was 4:05.2. Liam Heary, one of the youngest swimmers at 14 y. to score points, finished 15th in the 200 breast with a time of 2:26.1. Evan Keogh rounded out our evening swims with a 1:00.0 in the 100 back, just .2 sec off his best time. The Tsunami boys are in 3rd place and the girls team is in 17th place.
Today, Sunday, is the final day of swimming at this meet.
At the USA Nationals we posted a pair of best times in the 400 free. Xander Gardner swam it in a 4:03.3 and Arik Katz swam a 3:53.7, a new team record and another Olympic Trials cut. Sunday is the final day with both swimmers competing in the 800 m. free.
Southern Zone All Star Championships - final day Luis Junqueira lead off his All Star 200 free relay in a lifetime best of 25.8. The phenomenal swims by both Luis and Sidney Brann helped the Florida All Star team to finish 2nd in the meet.
