Four swimmers represented East Carolina Aquatics at the 2019 USA Swimming Futures Championships, held in Greensboro, NC, August 1-4. Emma Hastings, Lyndsey Reeve, Trevor Torres, and Conner Wang participated in the meet after earning qualifying times.
Hastings, 15 from Greenville, competed in the 200 Free, 40 Free, 800 Free, 200 IM, and 400 IM. Her best finish was 15th in the 400 Free in a time of 4:27.97. She posted 9:13.07 to finish 20th in the 800 Free as well.
Reeve, 17 from Emerald Isle, raced the 50, 100, 200, 400, and 1500 Freestyles and the 100 Fly. She made finals in the 200 and 400 Free, finishing 19th in the 200 (2:06.24) and 20th (4:27.44) in the 400.She posted an impressive 17:34.73 in the 1500 Free, taking 12th in the event. Her 100 Free time of 58.79 qualified for finals as well, though she opted out of swimming that event. Reeve was competing in her last meet as a Gator before heading off to swim for the University of Pennsylvania in the fall.
Torres, 17 from Greenville, competed in the 50 Free, 100 Free, and 100 Breast. He posted a very fast 24.14 in prelims and had to swim off for his finals position. He then clocked 23.99, just .01 from the team record posted by Philip Perdue in 2013. His finals swim of 24.00 finished 18th. He earned a Summer Junior Nationals qualifying time in the event.
Conner Wang, 18 from Trent Woods, competed in the 50 Free and 100 Fly.
