Welcome to 757swim, Coach Mike McKee!

757swim is thrilled to announce that Coach Mike McKee will be joining our full time coaching staff as an Assistant Head Coach!

Mike McKee started his professional coaching career in 2008 with NOVA Aquatics, where he led Novice groups and assisted throughout the program. In 2009, Mike became lead coach for the Age Group Prep group. This group had around 20 swimmers at the time but grew under Mike’s leadership to over 70 swimmers. By his final season at NOVA , Mike was trusted to be the lead coach for almost 150 swimmers. Most NOVA swimmers have gone through one of Mike’s practice groups where he played an integral part in many future individual and team successes.

In addition to his regular coaching duties at NOVA , Mike also served as Clinics Coordinator. His popular clinics and summer outreach programs played a large role in attracting new talent to the team.

Mike started swimming competitively at age eight for his local summer league team, Woodmont. When he was fourteen, he took his swimming career to the next level and started swimming year-round. After that, Mike’s talent and love for swimming increased exponentially. In his last five seasons at Woodmont, he was a triple-winner in all but one meet, he earned many JRAC Championship medals, and he broke numerous pool records. As a club swimmer, he earned a national top-16 time that placed third in the nation. Ultimately, he chose to pursue his passion as a swimmer and coach for the club swim team at Virginia Tech, where he earned his degree in business.

Mike has been selected to coach multiple Virginia Swimming Zones Championship Teams. He also has 10 years of summer league coaching experience. During eight years of coaching Woodmont, Mike led the team to four division titles and three sportsmanship awards. He coached the Country Club of Virginia to a second place finish in the 2006 JRAC Championship meet. In 2011, he led Fox Hall to an undefeated season, winning their division.

Mike’s recruiting, coaching, and passion have led to success and growth for every team he has been a part of. He prides himself on keeping the sport fun and helping his swimmers nurture a passion for swimming that will hopefully last a lifetime. At the same time, he instills a solid foundation of proper stroke technique and habits that his swimmers will use and build upon throughout their careers to reach their full potential.
