Palo Alto, CA. Stanford University was the backdrop for the USA Swimming Summer Nationals which were held July 30 - August 3. A total of 12 swimmers from 2 different clubs represented CCS in the competition.
The headliner was clearly Claire Tuggle (CLOV), who finished 4th in the 400m freestyle and 8th in the 200m freestyle events. Her finishes earn her a spot on the 2019 World Junior Championships to be held in Budapest, Hungary, later this August.
Averee Preble (CLOV) finished 14th amongst all competitors in the 1500m freestyle. Her time earned her first ever Olympic Trial qualifying standard.
Also placing in finals was Danielle Herrmann (CLOV), who broke the 1:10 barrier in the 100m breaststroke for the first time in her career, which was good enough for a 21st placed finish in the event.
Athletes competing in the meet who were homegrown CCS athletes competing with their college or professional teams include: National Teamer, Justin Wright (formerly FDST - 8th placed in the 200m butterfly) and Mallory Korenwinder (formerly TNT - 22nd placed in the 100m breaststroke).
Other CCS Swimmers who competed at this summer's National Championship inlcude: Autumn D'Arcy (RA), Ben Forbes (CLOV), Loren Gillian (RA), Jillian Hatch (CLOV), Graham Hauss (CLOV), Gabriel Jett (CLOV), Yulduz Kuchkarova (CLOV), Tyler Manshieim (CLOV), and Abby Samansky (CLOV).
