City of Mason's Adam Chaney and Carson Foster will compete in the FINA World Junior Swimming Championships to be held Aug. 20-25 in Budapest, Hungary.
Outside of the Olympic Games & the FINA World Championships, the FINA World Junior championships are the sport’s largest international competition. This summer marks the seventh edition of the FINA World Junior Championships competition which was first held in 2006 in Rio de Janeiro and hosted in 2015 in Singapore. Nearly 1,000 athletes from nearly 100 countries are expected to compete in the six-day meet that will feature an early look at young athletes who will vie for positions on their respective nations’ Tokyo 2020 Olympic Games rosters.
Carson and Adam are two of the 45 boys and girls selected to represent Team USA. They qualified during the Phillips 66 U.S. National Championships held at Stanford University July 31-Aug 4. They posted the fastest times among all swimmers in the country in the U-18 division in multiple events. City of Mason Coach Ken Heis was selected to be a an assistant coach. He will join seven other national team coaches, a doctor, two high performance specialists, a nutritionist, and three team managers as a part of the Team USA contingent.
