12 Under Championship Recap

The 12-Under swimmers wrapped up their season with great Wisconsin State Meet and Zone C Championship Meet performances.  Congratulations to all swimmers who had to meet time standards to compete in these two championships.

State Meet

On July 25-27 thirty-three Lake Country swimmers competed at the Pleasant Prairie RecPlex in the Wisconsin 12-Under State Championship Meet.  The team placed 7th place overall with 1145 points.

11-12 Boys

The 11-12 boys lead the team in point scoring amassing 459 points, which was good enough for 4th in their team age group ranking.  All four relay entries with Tanner Hansen, Caleb Alsum, Andrew Harshbarger and Finn Nelson finished in the top three.  After landing Bronze in the first three relays, the boys rallied for a silver medal in the 400 free Relay in the last event of the meet.  Tanner Hansen led the charge collecting 116 points individually;  He was 3rd in the 50 free, 50 breast and 200 breast.  He added a pair of 4ths in the 100 breast and 200 IM and a 5th in the 100 free.  Andrew Harshbarger pitched in with a 5th in the 100 back a pair of 6ths in the 50 back and 50 fly, a pair of 8ths in the 50 free and 200 back and an 11th in the 100 fly.  Finn Nelson scored in 5 of his 6 events led by a 5th place finish in the 800 free and a 6th in the 400 Free.  Finn also scored in the 200 free (11th), 200 Breast (17th ) and the 100 Breast (20th).  Caleb Alsum took 13th in the 400 free, 14th in the 100 fly and 20th in the 100 free.  Braeden scored points in all three of the breaststroke races with 13ths in the 50 and 200 and 16th in the 100.  Charlie Williams had all best times competing in 3 events.  Max Klockow also competed three times.

11-12 Girls

The 11-12 Girls scored 289 points for 6th place in the team age group scoring.  Audrey Worgull scored in all six events with a pair of 9ths in the 200 breast and 200 back a pair of 11ths in the 100 breast and 100 back. A 12th in the 50 back and a18th in the 200 IM.   Also scoring were Ava Hansen (10th- 400 IM, 14th – 200 Breast, 17th – 400 Free), Grace Kaczmarek (11th – 200 Breast, 14th – 100 Breast), Adrienne Prymas (14th – 50 Fly), Cate Wisener 16th – 800 Free), Sara Wiedoff (18th – 50 Breast, 19th – 50 Fly), Julianna Drake (19th – 50 free), Allison Lucyshyn (20th-200 Breast).  Also competing in the 11-12 age group were Addisyn Gundrum, Kate Lucyshyn, Lara Manter, Piper Moede, Raylea Richmond and Ella Walters.  Also, new team member Nora Hansen swam 3 events as an unattached swimmer placing 16th in the 100 meter fly.

10-Under Boys

The 10-Under Boys scored 150 points placing 9th.  Zach Haase led the scoring with points in all six events totaling 63 overall.  Zach placed 9th in the 400 free and 10th in both the 100 and 200 free. He also added an 11th in the 50 free, a 13th in the 200 IM and a 17th in the 50 fly.  Josh Haase added a 9th place finish in the 50 fly a 19th in the 200 IM and a 20th in the 100 fly.  Rohan Rejesh scored a couple of points with a 19th in the 50 breast.  David Wessel competed in 4 events and Aiden Gundrum and Grant Schroeder swam in three individual events.

10-Under Girls

The 10-Under girls placed 3rd in their age group team competition with 247 points.  Ally Gordon scored 97 of the team’s points with 6 finishes in the top 11.  Ally was 2nd in the 50 back, 4th in the 100 back, 6th in the 50 free, 7th in the 50 fly, 10th in the100 free and 11th in the 200 IM.  Charlie Bishop added a pair of 10th in the 50 and 100 fly.  Tessa Hansen placed 10th in the 50 breast and 11th in the 100 breast.  Tessa’s time of 1:41.60 established a new team record for the 8-Under 100 meter Breast.  Mackennah Haase score thrice with a 12th in the 100 back, 15th in the 50 back and 16th in the 100 free.  Brooke Brockland also competed in three events.

Zone C Championship

Six Lake Country swimmers qualified to be members of Team Wisconsin, competing in the Central Zone Championship Meet at Pleasant Prairie on August 1-4.  Swimmers must achieve a national AAA time to qualify for the team.

Tanner Hansen competed and scored in 6 individual events at the meet.  His highest place was 5th in the 50 free.  In his other races Tanner was 10th in the 200 Breast, 11th in the 100 Free, 12th in the 50 Breast, 14th in the 200 IM and 15th in the 100 Breast.  Tanner also contributed to relays with his A 200 Free Relay taking gold at the meet

Andrew Harshbarger also scored for Team Wisconsin with a 13th in the 50 Fly and a 15th in the 50 Back.  Andrew also raced in the 100 Back (25th) and on a couple of Team Wisconsin Relays.

Audrey Falkner-Worgull picked up a point for Team Wisconsin with a 20th in the 200 Breast as well as competing in the 100 Back (36th), 100 Breast (36th) and the 50 Back (43rd)

Ally Gordon raced twice in the meet; the 100 Back (24th) and the 50 Back (26th).  Julianna Drake swam the 50 and 100 free (73rd in both).  Grace Kaczmarek swam the 200 Breast (31st).
