The 2019 Eastern Zone Long Course Age Group Swimming Championships were contested in Richmond, Virginia August 8-11. Swimmers need to accomplish a qualifying time to earn a spot on the NJ All Star Team. LHY had six swimmers qualify for the NJ Swimming Eastern Zone Championship Team: Serena Dickey, Lianna Pron, Jessica Tsang, Olivia Jastrzab, Cathal Hislop, and Tyler Roer.
Lianna Pron competed in the Girls 10/under 100 Free and went a best time by almost 2 seconds which placed her 7th! She also raced in the Girls 10/under 100 Breaststroke, dropped 4 seconds and finished 6th! In the 50 Breaststroke, she went a 40.25 and finished 9th. Lianna placed 4th in the 50 Back with a time of 35.52, and in the 200 IM she was 3rd in a time of 2:46.08. She also swam the 100 Back with a time of 1:16.14 and earned her highest place individual finish of 2nd! As part of the Girls 10/under 200 Medley Relay, Lianna helped the NJ Team win by 4 seconds!
Teammate Jessica Tsang dropped almost a second in the Girls 10/under 100 Free and finished 9th! She also competed in the 200 Free and placed 9th, raced in the 400 Free and placed 5th while dropping 4 seconds. In the 100 Breaststroke, Jessica placed 29th. Swimming a 35.74, she finished 30th in the 50 Fly. She also finished 21st in the 100 Fly. Jessica was also part of the 10/under 200 Free Relay which placed 8th.
Lianna Pron swam the backstroke leg of the 10/under 400 Medley Relay and Jessica Tsang anchored with her freestyle leg which helped the NJ Team conquer the event by 8 seconds over the 2nd place team! Lianna and Jessica were also part of the champion 400 Free Relay to help NJ win again by .04!
Also representing NJ from LHY was Serena Dickey. She placed 23rd in the Girls 10/under 100 Fly with a 1:22.88. Serena also earned 46th in the 50 Fly with a 37.36!
Competing in the Girls 11/12 50 Free was Olivia Jastrzab who swam a best time in 29.50 and finished 24th! Olivia also anchored the 200 Free Relay which finished 8th.
Cathal Hislop competed in the Boys 10/under 50 Fly and finished 43rd in a 37.86.
In the Boys 11/12, Tyler Roer competed in three events. He placed 40th in the 100 Free in a best time of 1:03.14. He swam 31.33 in the 50 Fly and finished 39th. Tyler also swam to a best time of 1:10.64 in the 100 Fly and finished 35th!
