Hailey Poe Competes for TEAM USA at ITU Sprint Triathlon World Champs

Pittsburgh Elite Aquatics (PEAQ) Swimmer Hailey Poe Competes for TEAM USA at the ITU Age Group Sprint Triathlon World Championships--- Lausanne, Switzerland

PEAQ swimmer Hailey Poe competed at the ITU (International Triathlon Union) Age Group Sprint Triathlon World Championships held Saturday 8/31 in Lausanne, Switzerland as part of the ITU World Triathlon Grand Final. Hailey finished the 16-19 Female Age Group Sprint Event in 16th place with a time of 1:13:52. Hailey’s time was the 3rd for fastest for TEAM USA.  Hailey competed against athletes age 16-19 from all over the world who qualified for the event. 

Hailey, age 17 and a senior at South Fayette HS, was one of 18 athletes to qualify for TEAM USA’s 15-19 Age Group Sprint Triathlon Team at last year’s Age Group National Triathlon Championship in Cleveland, Ohio.  The Sprint Triathlon event is a 750-meter open water swim, a 20-km bike and a 5-km run. 

An amazing accomplishment by this young athlete on the world triathlon stage.  Congratulations Hailey!
