SASO Swimming, a year USA swim team based in Solano County, will offer a year round swim program in the City of American Canyon starting this fall.  The program will include opportunities for a variety of ages of swimmers with swim team experience.  Twenty to thirty swimmers from American Canyon are expected to participate in the inaugural year.

SASO swimming is one of three USA swimming year round club teams in Solano County.  Participants on the team range from novice swimmers to regionally and nationally ranked.  Swimmers from SASO have participated in a variety of meets, including Sierra Nevada Junior Olympics, USA Sectionals in Texas and USA swimming Western Zones in Oregon.

The program will be led by Kevin Chester, who is also the Head Coach of the AHI Swim Team in American Canyon.  Chester also runs aquatics programs in conjunction with the City of American Canyon.  City programs include youth and adult swim programs.

“I am very excited to be partnering with SASO. This is a great opportunity for the American Canyon swim community and am pleased to be offering this to our swimmers.  I am confident that our partnership will be a huge benefit to these swimmers and will help grow both SASO and the American Canyon swim community.”

Practices will be offered throughout the week at the Phillip West Aquatic Center in American Canyon.  American Canyon swimmers will begin to practice at this new site starting on Monday, September 9.  Many of the swimmers of this program will continue to represent the AHI swim team as well as American Canyon High school.

SASO will also continue to operate programs at Solano College in Fairfield as well as the Kroc Center in Suisun City.  Seasonal programs are also offered at Rodriguez High School in Fairfield.

Steve Trotter, Board President at SASO expressed his excitement this opportunity.  “As a long term member of the SASO community, it is exciting to see the expansion of the aquatics program over the last three years. The addition of SASO in American Canyon signals the teams commitment to supporting the growth of high quality youth swimmers across the region.”

SASO Swimming recently held their fall evaluations for new swimmers interested in joining the team.  Space is still available for swimmers as well as other programs.

SASO also offers swim lessons, water polo for youth and high school players and adult masters fitness swimming.  For more information, you can go to www.sasoswimming.org.
