Welcome from the SBSC President

Dear Returning and Prospective SBSC Swimmers:

We now have our fee schedule, practice schedule, and meet schedule finalized and posted on our website here:

https://www.teamunify.com/ApplyForms.jsp?team=cansbsc

Practices next week will coincide with our registration nights on Tuesday and Thursday, 10 and 12 September, 5-7 PM. On those nights, we will be conducting free placement trials for new swimmers, and our returning swimmers are encouraged to come and train in the pool.

Our regular practice schedule begins the following Monday 16 September. A reminder that all scheduled practices and events can be found in the club's Google Calendar:

We're thrilled to welcome back Angela Bidinost and Alicia Procter to our coaching staff. Angela will be filling the role of Head Coach, and Alicia will be running our NovaTech program again, as well as assuming the role of Team Manager.

As a means of brief introduction, my name is Doug Schillinger and I will be the President of the Bluefins for the upcoming 2019-2020 season.  I've been a swim parent for the past 5 years, and sat on the Executive of the Manta Rays as Treasurer, as well as serving on the Board for the Bluefins this past year.

My mission for the Shearwater Bluefins is to develop swimmers of all levels.

My vision is to provide a small, personal club that develops a passion for swimming, a work ethic for excellence, self-motivation for growth, and a focus on skill development for new to elite level swimmers.

Going forward, I'd like to develop and cultivate a team culture that promotes and develops its coaches from within, and one that develops strong athlete/leaders who help to motivate themselves and each other.  I aim to achieve this through consultation with our top swimmers, our coaches, and families who have been with the Bluefins for a long time.  Ultimately it will be the swimmers, coaches, and parents who will be responsible for the success and longevity of the club.  I will strive for closed-loop communication with parents, swimmers, and coaches.

Please e-mail me directly with any questions or concerns that you might have. Be on the lookout for a message about a general parent meeting + a call for volunteers for various functions within the club.

Cheers,
Doug.
