Beginning the Season as a Team at the Intrasquad

Conejo Simi Swim Club hosted their September Intrasquad Meet on Sunday September 8th at the Rancho-Simi Community Pool. It was preceded by a Swimmer and Parent Introduction to Swim Meets Session on Saturday, September 7th.

Teaching the swimmers and parents the process and some of the rules to a swim meet is important because it isn't intuitive. It takes some teaching and some practice in the same way we teach the strokes. Sunday was an opportunity to have some experience in a small meet environment.

The day was full of 25 yard and 50 yard events. Not events that swimmers get to swim all the time, but it is a fun meet which allowed swimmers to feel what a meet is like. It is also a rare opportunity that our younger athletes get to see our older swimmers compete.

The day ended with all of the younger and older kids joining up into 12 relays which almost all of the athletes were able to compete. Relays are not common in many meets, but it is a very important part of the sport. CSSC is very happy to be able to introduce relays to so many of our young swimmers and be joined by our older athletes on their relays.
