Welcome Back Briefs 9-6-19

Welcome back Briefs for Friday, Sept. 6:

Quote: “All day I was saying, ‘I’m gonna win, I’m gonna win.' I think that one race taught me if I really believe in myself, I can do anything I put my mind to.” – Lilly King, 2016 Olympic Gold Medalist, IU alumna

It’s short course season and we are excited to be back together for a great season!

As we head into a new season, the board will assess and implement a new coaching structure and organizational system needed for our club to continue to grow and offer a great swim and dive experience to Wabash Valley children. The VCSC Aquatic Center has been open three years, and we are thankful that our families can utilize such a great facility. We added diving earlier this year to now offer another sport for Wabash Valley children. The board continues to look at expanding the direction of the club and plans to share more at the annual meeting Monday, Sept. 23.

We are pleased that the entire coaching staff is back for another season:

Diving coaches: Troy Cuthbertson and Henry McCarter

Senior coaches: Mike Williams and Emily Marrs

Gold coach: Dave Breiding

Silver coach: Dani Revere

Bronze coach: Mike Williams

Orange and Blue coach: Joel Lauritzen

Floating coaches that help with orange, blue and bronze are: Melissa Giesen, Mykenzie Kostka, Jordan Gramlich, Bridget Gutish, Todd Kaho, Kathryn Lough

Masters coaches and adult lesson instructors: Jerrilynn Bayless and Joel Lauritzen

Our new Lessons Coordinator is Devan Knott. Lessons for open for September and October! He has been a long-time lessons instructor, Torpedo, Terre Haute North High School swimmer and now a freshman at Indiana State University. He has taken over after Haley (Tisdale) Stout was in the role for almost five years. We wish her well as a newlywed and will still see her on the pool deck as a TH North coach.

2019-20 Board of directors: Are you interested in serving on the board of directors? Deadline to express interest is Sept. 12. Elections are Sept. 23 and the term is Oct. 1-Sept. 30. Being a part of the board helps guide the club plus you get to know more of the THT families. Please email Jessica Jackson ( or Heather Meadors ( if interested.

The Annual Meeting is set for Monday, Sept. 23 at 6 pm at the pool. It will be a fun night with the team receiving their team shirt and then take team pictures at 6 pm outside. Pettit Photography order forms will be available at the pool. There will be a new parent orientation from 7-8pm in the wet classroom (by diving boards).

The parent annual meeting/elections is from 6:10-6:45 pm inside, and open swim will be from 6:45-8 p.m.

Treasurer Tuesday: Alyson O’Rourke is at the pool on Tuesdays from 6-7pm in the wet classroom to answer questions. If you have birth certificates, USA Swimming registration, etc., Alyson will collect them.
