September 11, 2019
Thank you to everyone who came out to the season kick off on Sunday - it was great to see so many new and returning swim families! For those who were not able to make it - here is a link to the schedule and general information that was handed out. Please review these documents.
A reminder that all swimmers must meet the YMCA 3 meet rule and be a member of the YMCA in good standing for 90 days to swim in the championship season. This means that high school boys should swim at least one day at the BBD meet on October 26-27 and both days at the NOW SYOA meet on November 9-10. USA swim meets (OLY meet, MLA meet, Circle City) do not count towards the YMCA 3 meet requirement! Please email Coach Landon with any questions on which meets your swimmer should attend. All swimmers who qualify for championship meets are expected to swim in these meets (even as a relay only swimmer) unless they have a conflict with their high school team.
The deadline to order team shirts and apparel is this Sunday, September 15th at 11:59pm. High school girls (and those doing other fall sports): this is the last chance to order the team t-shirt before the team picture.
The next NOW parent board meeting is Tuesday, September 17th from 6-7:30pm (NOTE the time change!) at the YMCA. We will be planning for the NOW Swim Your Own Age meet on November 9-10.
The sign up to volunteer for Oktoberfest on Friday and Saturday, September 27th - 28th is found here . We will sign for students needing to fulfill volunteer hours.
Next Thursday, September 19th Senior/Senior Plus/Gold/Green practices from 3-5pm at the YMCA. The Rochester Falcon swim team has a home meet at 6:30pm at RHS.
Friday, September 27th no practice for Senior/Senior Plus/Gold/Green to allow these groups to volunteer for Oktoberfest - this group should also take the later shifts on Saturday so that younger swimmers are able to volunteer in the earlier time slots.
Saturday, September 28th no practice for red/white groups to allow these groups to volunteer for Oktoberfest.
We are in need of someone to take over the concessions lead spot for the NOW SYOA meet from the Forlines family. They have been leading this for many years and this is their last year. Concessions is fun (sometimes the swimmers are able to help out in the session they are not swimming!) and you are not in the heat of the stands. You will be able to see your swimmer in their events (someone will fill in for you when you go to watch on deck). Please email Laura if you/your family are interested!
YMCA Official training is October 19 (level 1 at the Farmington Family YMCA 8am-12, level 2 from 12-4pm). We are in need of parents to become officials, please email Jane Evans if you are interested in being an official (no experience required - NOW pays for the training!). Officials are able to experience the swim meets up close and personal.

Team Unify has an app in the app store called On Deck. Once installed you use the same login/password as for the team web site.
Time for back to the pool shopping? A reminder that if you purchase swim gear via the link for our affiliate account at the Swim Outlet, the team receives 8% of the sales back. It's a great way to support the team and get swim gear.
Have a great week and we will see you at the pool!
