Chloe Krawiec is a 10 year old 5th grader at Lafayette Elementary School in Chatham.
Chloe has always had an affinity to the water and began swim lessons at the age of 3. By age 5 Chloe earned the Gold Fish badge at Noe Pond and began competing on their swim team. At age 6 Chloe joined BAC within TYM. She moved to Streaks then Snappers and recently joined Juniors 1 which she is very excited about especially the more rigorous dryland and yoga.
Chloe also pursues her love of swimming outside of BAC. This summer Chloe was cast the lead of Simba in the Noe Pond water show production of the Lion King. The water show is a long-standing tradition at Noe Pond where children perform a water ballet accompanying by music. Chloe choreographed her solo routine herself which concluded with the most difficult element, the traveling ballet leg. Chloe is also a member of the Morris County swim team. This summer she helped her team place 3rd in the Jockey Hollow League.
Out of the water, Chloe’s passion is gymnastics. This fall she joined the Summit School of Dance Intermediate II Acro squad. Previously, Chloe was on the Acro pre-team at Indigo Gymnastics where she trained 3 hours a week. Chloe is serious about her strength and conditioning and was proud to complete the most push-ups (72!) of all 4th graders last year.
This year Chloe joined the Lafayette Art Club which meets once a week after school and will focus on mural painting and ceramics. Last year, Chloe’s artwork was featured in the Chatham District Art Show where she was selected to demonstrate how to create a paper mache mask.
This fall Chloe is participating in her school’s mini marathon which is a non-competitive untimed 1.6 mile walk/jog/run aimed to foster commitment and school spirit. The group trains after school once a week for five weeks and the winner is featured on Lafayette Live.
Chloe also finds time to play her violin which she started in 3rd grade. Her favorite song is Ode to Joy. With her love of music, Chloe joined the 5th grade chorus this year.
This summer Chloe participated in the Morris County 3 holers golf club. There she gained an appreciation of the mental toughness required for the sport.
In addition to all her activities, Chloe is a dedicated student. Most mornings, Chloe wakes up early to complete her homework independently. Chloe is an avid reader and was first in her class to complete the 25 book challenge across 7 genres last year. Outside of school, Chloe is part of a book club with friends that meets monthly. Some of the books they’ve read and discussed include Hidden Figures and A Night Divided.
Chloe also attends CCD weekly at Corpus Christi Parish.
