October 1, 2019
While we have just turned our calendars to October, it is time to start planning for our December "target" meets. For those new to the club, all swimmers, Developmental through Seniors, should be targeting one of three meets for December - the HAA Eagle Invite, the Machine Aquatics Turkey Claus Showdown, or the NCAP Holiday Invitational. The Eagle Invite is a local meet held at Hauppauge HS, while the other two meets are travel meets held at one of the nicest natatorium's in the country at the University of Maryland.
If you are not interested in either travel meet, you should be signing your swimmer up for the HAA Eagle Invite. It is a prelims / finals meet, meaning you could potentially be swimming twice per day if you make finals.
The Turkey Claus Showdown is a new meet for us, and takes the place of the Penn State travel meet we have attended the last three years. This meet is a great opportunity for our swimmers that don't qualify for NCAP to still swim in a very fast meet at the UMD pool. I strongly encourage EVERYONE to consider signing up for this meet! As long as you have a legal time in an event you qualify. Any events you have that qualify for NCAP are not eligible for Turkey Claus. The Turkey Claus meet is a travel meet where the swimmers travel and stay with their parents for the weekend.
If you are interested in attending the Turkey Claus Showdown, please commit to the meet ASAP. We are going to need to submit an entry file as soon as the meet opens, and we also need to arrange for a hotel block ASAP so we can accommodate everyone that wants to attend.
The NCAP Holiday Invitational is one of the fastest age group meets in the country. Swimmers must qualify for this meet. The meet is a team travel meet, meaning the swimmers will travel with the coaches, stay in the hotel with their teammates, and will have all meals together. Only 10&U athletes that qualify are permitted to stay with their parents (if they choose to do so).
If you have any questions about any of the three (3) December "target" meets, please email Coach Ely at email@example.com.
