October 8, 2019
We are all very excited for our first meets (for veteran team members) of the 2019-20 season (12 and unders at Ward Melville in East Setaukett and 13 and overs at Asphalt Green in Manhattan - please see event listings for warm up times and remember to be on deck at least ten minutes prior to warm up start time).
Due to the meets, there is no practice on Saturday, October 12 for Categories 3,4, or 5. Category 2 does not have Saturday practice. Category 1 will have regular practice.
On Monday, October 14, there is no practice for any categories!
However, there is a screening of Waterproof at the Hamptons International Film Fest at 4 pm on Monday that we encourage team members to see. It features the story of the Ryan family and their efforts to create a safe swimming environment in East Hampton. Any team member that is also involved in the Junior Lifeguarding program in the summer knows the incredible effort the family puts into the program and our community. They are also closely linked to our team as early founders and supporters and we currently have family members on the team (Lylah Metz) and on the Parent Advisory Board (Meg Metz). The film is playing at the East Hampton movie theater on Monday. Tickets are available at hamptonsfilmfest.org under VFLI (Views from Long Island) The short documentary of another teammate, Daisy Pitches, is coincidentally being shown along with the WaterproofI.
It would be great to see Hurricanes in the audience celebrating our teammates and their families!!! Yay, Hurricanes!
