Teaching Tuesday: Positive Body Image

Swimming is an incredibly physically demanding sport and requires athletes’ to endure a lot of
stress during training. Muscle gain is a large aspect to the sport, which makes an impact on the way that
individuals see themselves in the mirror. Many girls can get embarrassed by the muscles that they have
on their body, and if boys don’t have enough muscle, they can feel bad about the way they look as well,
just to list a few examples.

No matter what body type people have, it is important to appreciate what we’re able to accomplish with it. There are so many reasons to be proud of yourself as you are, while continuing to improve certain aspects of a lifestyle. As long as individuals are keeping their overall well-being in mind and staying healthy, it should be known that one body type does not fit all and we should embrace our personal strengths and abilities.
