PVA Welcomes new coach to the pool

Please join us in welcoming Beth Shustack to the PVA coaching staff. Beth will begin coaching on November 1st and will be working with our PreAG and AGI training groups. We are truly excited to have her on deck and are glad she is able to add PVA coaching to her busy schedule!

Beth has been a competitive swimmer (synchronized and competitive) since she was about 6 years old.  She grew up teaching and swimming at several different YMCA's.  She started teaching swim lessons with her mom at about the age of 14. Beth swam on a synchronized swim club at Penn State and also swam competitively for the University of Wisconsin LaCrosse in college.  After graduating, she had the opportunity to be the assistant aquatic director at a YMCA in VT.  Here she taught and coached children from the ages of 6 months all the way up 86 years young.  After about 3 years, she and Dan (her other half) started a family.  She has only stopped coaching for a brief time to enjoy raising her children.  They moved to North Adams about 11 years ago and soon after Beth had the opprotunity to teach kids and adults at the North Adams YMCA. Beth says, "I am honored to have been asked to coach with the club and I look forward to learning and coaching alongside the other PVA coaches!"
