KATIE CANTRELL (SCST Alum) and the St Charles Park District were recognized November 1st at the Illinois Association of Park Districts "Best of the Best Awards Gala" for developing the SCOUT Foundation Sensory Cove Swim Program.
The SCOUT Foundation Sensory Cove Swim Program was recognized with the Partnership Award. This award recognizes non-governmental organizations that have collaborated with a park district, forest preserve, conservation, recreation or special recreation agency in a significant manner, thereby enabling the public agency to initiate a major capital improvement program, or pursue a campaign, initiative or project that enhanced residents quality of life and would not have been achievable without this partnership.

Lessons offered free of charge through the For Scout Foundation. Providing free swim lessons for children with autism and extreme water sensory issues is a dream come true for KATIE CANTRELL, creator of the Sensory Cove swim program at the St Charles Park District.
Sensory Cove offerers one-on one instruction with specially trained lifeguards for children who would not otherwise benefit from a group swim class held during regular swim hours. Each lesson meets for four weeks on Sunday morning for 30 minutes, before the park opens. Registrants must be in grades K thru 6.
